Is this an overly expensive quote?

In talks with a local(ish) shop on getting some first mods done to my car, and I am not entirely sure if their pricing is on the higher side.

What they are offering:
- ATI Lower Crank Balancer
- 15% Lower Supercharger Drive Pulley
- HD RPM Series Drive Belt
- Roto Fab High Flow Cold Air Intake
- 160 Degree Thermostat
- HD Crank Seal Kit
- ARP Crank Bolt
- Brisk Performance Spark Plugs
- Dyno tune w/credits

Price: $3,600

To add headers:
- ARH 1-7/8 LT's
- ARH Xpipe

Price: +$3,100

So total for all of that installed and tuned: $6700 + tax (obviously).

Does that seem high to you guys? After pricing out the parts themselves, it seems around 40-50% of this is labor(unless I am calculating this incorrectly).

It certainly isn't a value, that's for sure.

I'll guess high here to make it easy.

$500 - ATI Lower Crank Balancer
$200 - 15% Lower Supercharger Drive Pulley
$80 - HD RPM Series Drive Belt
$500 - Roto Fab High Flow Cold Air Intake
$80 - 160 Degree Thermostat
$10 - HD Crank Seal Kit
$10 - ARP Crank Bolt
$100 - Brisk Performance Spark Plugs
$600 - Dyno tune w/credits

$2,080. So they're telling you it's $1,500 in labor? It would have to be 10 hours of labor at $150 an hour.

My opinion is based off my experience with my 5th Gen FWIW...with that said, this seems pretty high.

Seems steep but not ludicrous. Based on what you calculated for parts cost, how much of the quote ($) is labor? Figure the tune could be about ~$1k alone, and depends if its an a10 and if the trans is being tuned as well. I would be interested in knowing how many hours they quoted this at to make up the labor cost.

I know the tune is $800 total he said (m6).

I kind of feel like outright asking for the labor cost might be a bit forward of a question.

I have found tuning to be about $550 and the credits $200. So total just to tune is $750 and that is pretty much standard.

If it is RPM, they have a good rep, but they do charge more than most. I got a quote from them for doing my car and they were 5-6k more than the other 4 shops.

Seems right in the ballpark if it is from a quality shop experienced with the LT4.

I dont have much experience with modding cars but 100 hp added to a ZL1 seems like a perfect fit. Enough to make a difference but not to much to make the extra power difficult to handle or shred the tires at lower speeds.
Good luck if you decide to do it and please post some updates.
