Anyone else disappointed with Magnuson Superchargers sales.....

01-26-62-176-BL - all questions were for the one including a tune.
I have reached out to their sales at two different times.. each with a poor ability to answer a few questions. They simply pick and choose... forcing me to reply multiple times to have literally basic questions answered.

I hope I am the bad apple, but holy cow.

The biggest thing I was trying to narrow down...
1) whp/wtq gains, or crank gains, either
2) Boost level with the pulley included - which they answered, two times with different sizes haha. So still slightly unsure. I think its the 90mm.

From everything I have read, there is a lot of favor for their 2650... but this sure does erode confidence to deal with them.

Thoughts? Bad luck of the draw?

Never dealt with their sales department. COVID and high demand slowed down their availability for a while last year, not sure if that's still an issue but no one seems unhappy with the 2650R. It is THE supercharger to own right now for this platform.

It must be a weird time/timing or something. I've yet to have a bad correspondence with them, and I've had several, from sales to technical. Regardless...

Their ZL1 development car was a Member (SienarSystems, I think...) from here. They had a M6-car, and completely stock otherwise. I believe they picked up something like 80-RWHP and a little less torque over their baseline pulls, done just before the install at Magnuson. That was with the CARB-intent kit, which uses the OEM air cleaner and throttle body (literally a completely stock ZL1 with the 2650 and their CARB-kit and tune). That car put down like 640-RWHP on 91.

90mm is what the CARB-kits come with, and I think you have to upgrade to a smaller pulley from any of the other kits for ZL1 - so all kits come with the 90mm. On a completely stock car, it should yield about 14-psi.

If you don't need to worry about CARB-crap (which it looks like your location probably doesn't) you can upgrade to a 103-snout at a discount when you buy the kit. If you do that, add a 103 TB, and something like a Big Gulp, you will almost certainly be at least scratching 700-RWHP. You could almost certainly get another 20-RWHP with LTs.

You'll already be close to the edge of the stock fuel system at that power though. I'm dropping low-side a few pounds, but my EQ and IPW is right in the middle of the 5s, so I'm right there too, hahaha. This is enough power for me though. Now for some ZLE solid subframe bushings...

I got the 2650 on my LT4. With the standard 90m pulley I got 13psi, but I also have a 103 tb and 2" longtube headers. I even have a lowside fuel pump but the highside maxed out first at just a hair above 700. If you extend the redline to 7k or so you should be able to squeeze just a bit above 720.

I went from 560whp baseline to 705whp on a mainline dyno. Torque increased about 60ish.

Hey you guys can always reach out to me even though I don't work for Magnuson anymore and that used to be my job doing technical and customer support. I think Jason is really close on the estimates he listed. You won't be unhappy with the 2650r as its a stellar blower and holds the quickest and highest mph 1/4 and 1/8 mile at the drag strip. Each may very some depending on the altitude and if your going to run 91 or 93 octane. All Magnuson's tunes are done at sea level and 91 octane. Typically you'll see more hp out of a custom tune as that tune is meant for the masses and is generally a little on the rich side. Buy it with the fit kit also and you get all the connecting hoses, reservoir, etc. Let me know if you need anything else.

Even though you're no longer an employee, you continue to be a hell of an ambassador for Magnuson, Greg. If I was running the show there, I'd hire you back in a Heartbeat...pun intended!

Yes. I called them recently and all I got was "we've got a new one coming out in a few months"

I was their test car and they certainly did treat me right. No complaints and nothing but smiles from me.

That’s great and all, but it sure does suck they don’t know how to answer basic questions. I feel like the person I was corresponding via emails didn’t know much. Even when I specifically followed up two times to ask for clarity - the specific limited questions were dodged. For example- asked a question on power- replied something along the lines of “not carb approved”. SMH

Very Disappointed so I went another direction!

when the 1st 2650 news came I called and called spoke to them at Cfest and so on.. I ran into at least 5 promises dates of when they would be ready and every time they tried to talk me into taking a 2300 instead. This went on for 1 year and 3 mos.(I really didn't like the fake promises of soon, next month end of the year, 1st quarter and so on I wasted that long to get my build going that made me mad as heck) I wanted to get one of the 1st kits (If your not 1st your last)... Everytime I called I got an old hag that answered the phone (lanylo or toohigh assured me she was slightly older then me 48) She didn't seem to really know the products. Usually I got a return call from an older guy that seems like he has alzheimer's. I know its a little harsh but that's what it seemed like I'm sure there okay that's just my thoughts and my experiences. this was well before COVID!

On the other hand Edelbrock (Not as efficient out of the box but, once ported it performs better and it's the same price as the Maggi especially when a 103mm snout is an upgrade and now that you have to buy port spacers from toohighpsi to run port injection it's even more money If you remember both him. lanylo, and shizzy told me its not necessary to have port yet low and behold they have port now...shady if ya ask me or just trying to take the thunder out of a good thing I was informing people about on my build?) My dealings with Edelbrock have been great they have sent me all sorts of parts for the wifes 2300 that was put on 5 years ago free of charge. I haven't had any problems with my 2650 so I can't really elaborate on that unit. I do know I have been getting call backs and longer wait times since the covid but, before there was never a time where i couldn't call and talk with Nick Purciello( now with whipple), calibration department, or warranty department instantly. Edelbrock is huge and it seemed like i got a family owned service vs a smaller magnuson company that treats ya like a number.

That's just my experience there units are very good and I guess they can run the sales/service like they want and still survive just fine. I'm glad I went for the less desirable eforce though. I like having an under dog that comes out on top! Of course I'll be reminded that eforce doesn't have the fastest time slips but oh well. (IF your not 1st your LAST) so I guess I'm last!

Are you going to Cfest I'm ready for that beer! laynlo!
