Lots of new mods - dyno, quarter mile, Dragy, get in here!

After two years with bolt-ons in my ZL1 decided it was finally time to make some more power. Prior to the new mods the car had a RotoFab, 9.1 lower pulley, and 2" Stainless Work full exhaust. Also had a DSX aux pump, suspension bits, aesthetics, yadda yadda. Was making about 600 rwhp and best run was 10.7@131 in low DA. 60-130 was 7.8-8.0 range. Car was a blast but coming from heads/cam C6Z always thought it needed more power. Recently had the following done.

BTR Stage 2 cam w/38% fuel lobe
AMP ported heads
Kong ported blower w/2.3 upper
Katech 103 TB
RotoFab Big Gulp
DSX Flex Sensor - E50 max
AMP 160* t-stat
Mighty Mouse catch can
Sam Miller at AMP tuned engine and trans

Car made 800 rwhp and 775 rwtq on E50 blend. No meth.

Took it to the track first chance I got after picking it up. Had not been to track in almost a year and had jitters bad. Ran a 9.94@139.5 MPH in 1958 DA. This was off idle and only E35. Weld 20/17 drag pack with 305/45/27 ET Street Rs. Second pass tried to foot brake it and got wheel hop. No more passes. Nothing broke but driveshaft and control arms will happen soon enough.

After a week or so with the car and few friends rode along. Wife still hadn't been in the car and wanted to go for a spin. With us in it, gas, etc probably weighed in 4300 lb range still E35. Took it to an empty stretch of road (in Mexico, obviously) and got some Dragy times.

I'm beyond happy with the car. It is much faster than I expected and will only get faster as I get more used to the power. On street tires car's just as smooth as before just have to be more careful with throttle. Hasn't affected how it handles or anything. I drove it 300+ miles home after picking it up, no different than before just sounds better at idle. Thanks for reading.

Those are good numbers, once you improve your 60ft and get it in the 1.30s you'll pick up another tenth. My ets and mph were always best right off idle.

Pretty similar build to our stage 3 package. Damn good numbers and great results. Those Street ET R's are the truth at the track.

Congrats

Awesome results! It’s amazing what a ported LT4 blower can do.

I think it will go 5.4s with just me in it and closer to E50. Weather was great for Houston but humidity is a killer.

Thanks, DS and control arms coming soon! I've followed your posts for years on the forum, wish more folks in this community had your attitude.

Thanks! I think this is an awesome package for those not wanting meth but still wanting to make awesome power. I have seen a few guys over the years doing cam and aux for fuel running similar times.

Agreed. Sam has been great. Had car back a couple weeks and ask him anything get almost immediate responses. Great customer service.

Thanks!

I got lucky and a local ZL1 owner has a NIB driveshaft plus BMR on-car adjustable control arms. Will be picking those up this weekend and update with new times.

Nice times. Have you done a 1/8 or 1/4 run with Dragy on the street?

Yeah GREAT build. 99% of the people will never know first hand how fast a NINE second car is. I have no doubt that you had an "OH SHIT!!!" moment the first time you put the hammer down.

If you get a chance ask Bryan to take you for a ride in the ZR1 when he does a 60MPH to 130MPH run in the MID 3 Second range. I would NOT eat anything first however!!! LOL

Well if you are talking specifically about the VORSLHAG camber plates and install, KEVIN at The Muffler King shop on Garland Rd. 214-328-4669 did that along with the alignment.

I bought the camber plates directly from VORSHALG for 550 dollars and Kevin did the install and alignment for 300 dollars (took about three hours). I quite frankly thought he didnt charge me enough for the install (lol).

Not yet. There's a really good stretch to try it but it's pretty far from my place. Will get there eventually.

You're right, was definitely an 'oh sh*t' moment. This is fastest car I've owned. I really just wanted to ride in the C8. After my visit Sam said I should've driven it but I didn't know that was on the menu. He was telling me about doing 60-130 in the 3s every week. 5s is fast enough for me for a long time. I've made several WOT pulls and it still scares me. The 100-150 is impressive too for a heavy car that doesn't have the greatest aero.

They have the packages on their site. I already had some bolt-ons so that saved quite a bit. If you're starting with a stock car most shops would charge $15-20k range but there's several factors. Header brand, do you want ported heads, ported blower, etc. Every customer is different.

I meant labor cost to install these; looking for rough idea, got a quote of $2,600 for labor. Wondering if this is within reason

BTR Stage 2 cam w/38% fuel lobe
AMP ported heads
Kong ported blower w/2.3 upper
Katech 103 TB
