Should I mix Tire brands?

When I got my 2nd set of tires I bought a non run flat all season Performance tire. Now my rear tires need new ones but the front tires look damn near new. Should I stick with the brand I have to match the front. Or will swapping to another brand on the rear effect the overall handling because of the different tread?

I run Michelin on the front and Mickeys in summer on the rear. Otherwise, all Michelin.

You might mix tires that are miss matched enough to mess with handling. Like I wouldnt run summer extreme performance tires on the rear and winter tires on the front.
But If the tires are similar in driving purpose I wouldnt think a mismatch front to rear would be an issue.
Same tire... same age and miles on any axle. If you had 50% wear and got a flat that ruined a tire you would need to buy 2 tires so they matched accross that axle.

As long as you stick with the same tire per axel, you will be fine. As mentioned above, just try to keep the tire comparable (which I assume you are).

Here is TireRack's opinion on the subject.

Unless you really know what you are doing, I would avoid it.

Agreed. Too many variables in tire brands and design which can compromise handling. Stay consistent.

I would avoid it personally. You are supposed to be able to run different pairs (between the front in rear) but I wouldn't do it. The difference in looks alone would be enough to drive me nuts.
