Adams buttery wax question

So last night I was waxing my 1LE for a car show this weekend and I used my new bottle of Buttery Wax from Adam's. I put it on like normal and it seemed to come off like normal BUT it is like sitting on top of the paint? It didnt fully "come off" when I wiped it down? I can "move" it in the light, either horizontal or vertical when I wipe the panel? This is my brand new bottle and it was a noticeably darker yellow than all my previous bottles. Does anyone know if they changed the formula? I have used this same wax for at least 4 years and have NEVER had this happen? I just waxed same car with my older bottle of buttery wax 2 months ago and did not have this issue?

Have you tried contacting Adams? Sounds like a mess that may need to be stripped off.

Not yet. I have some 3M wax I can use for now I just figured I ask if it was just an isolated thing or the new formula......

I doubt it's the wax if it's a new bottle. Possibly some contaminant on the surface that's not easily visible that's interfering with the wax. Try this:

Take a rear panel /fender, and spray wipe it down with a 50-50 mix of alcohol and distilled water.

Do it again

Wait 10 or 15 minutes and try to apply the wax. Hopefully that should clear it up.

I will for sure like I said been using this same wax for years with zero issues until this new bottle. Out of curiosity did the wax change? It is noticeably darker tan/yellow than my last 2 bottles.

I am a solid Adam's user and have been for almost a decade, call them if you find out it is the wax itself. They will make it right for you.

I would also make sure to thoroughly shake that bottle up and make sure it didnt separate any from sitting as well.

Yeah I went thru my cabinet today when I put some new Adam's towels in the cabinet, found 2 of the bottles of brilliant glaze I had in there had separated and even after a thorough shaking they are a water like consistency now.

I will checking with Adam's soon to see what they think.

I ended up using the Adams spray detailer and went over the whole car and it took the “film” the wax left on the car off. But I sure don’t want to go through this again. My new wax bottle was seperated also I shook it for a long time and it seemed like it was fine and it should have been but who knows......
