If you decide to get it ceramic coated, check out Brian's Custom Detailing on facebook. He's a long time F-Body owner and he does amazing work. You'll see what he works with on his facebook page.

Clear wrap the front, the mirrors and the quarters. Ceramic coat the rest. I paid to have the wrap done, but did the ceramic myself. Much easier to apply than wax.

LMAO! The website looks like the last update was in 2004, and after a quick browse I'd say that likely also applies to the product lineup.
Zaino was the shit back in the day. I used it on my C5 Z06, great stuff.

However technology has changed and they didn't follow. Now it is all about ceramic coatings, however Zaino is still a good cheap option if you don't mind putting a few coats on every 6 mths.

It doesn't have the hard shell like a ceramic coating and no scratch protection, however it will still protect against bird dropping, tree sap, etc.

Will admit it's all I know. All I've used since my 4th gens. Sal did update the site. He added a pic of my car I sent him. Do have cycles of stuff I use. Does take time but I like way it comes out. Washed yesterday after 4 July return from Coronado island. Bugs and crap came right off.

I know nothing about coatings or what polish may be better these days. Cost, etc.

Don't want to hijack OP; however, can you provide some detail?

Go to Adam's polishes page, they sell a ceramic kit as well and they have the videos on their site on how to apply it. It isnt hard, but it does require some prep work before you can even apply the coating.

Car has to be clean, clay bared, polished and ready to go for the ceramic coating process due to once the coating is on and dry you cant correct the paint again unless you polish the ceramic coating back off and start all over.

I actually liked Klasse better, simply because it lasted longer and seemed to offer better protection. It didn't give you that show car finish like you got with Zaino, but for daily drivers I prefer to be more pragmatic.

Thanks. I don't know if it's worth it to me or not. Don't know of a place in my area that does it and of course one more reason I wish I still lived in TX.

Detailing

1) Wash car with soap designed to remove all old wax,etc
2) While car is wet and soapy go over it with clay bar/mitt
3) rinse thoroughly and dry
4) CarPro Essence
5)CarPro Reload
6)Rinse periodically if car gets dusty/dirty and spritz with Ultima Waterless Wash diluted to detail spray strength
7) Dry
8) Enjoy
9) Repeat steps 1-5 every 6 months

I didn't clay, and went straight to wax (no polish as the paint condition was immaculate). IMO, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, however you already bought the clay bar, so you might as well. It won't hurt. As for whether to polish after claying, I'd go with Glen's recommendation to do it as he has a ton of detailing experience.

When it comes to a wax, I'm gradually learning that at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what you use be it a carnauba, sealant, hybrid, they all protect well enough. The main differences will be in how long they last in the elements, especially rain. People will swear by one or the other and you'll hear everything under the sun being 'better' than the other. If you like waxing often, then almost any will do. For longer times between waxing your mileage will vary and you'll have to experiment more.

I'm now using Chemical Guy's V07 soap, liquid wax and quick detailer and can't be happier. I don't need 6 months to a year's protection, a month will do as waxing to me is easy and I enjoy it. What I'm really impressed with is the ease of application, high gloss, and water/ rain resistance. It also really deepens the blue on my car and they are available by the gallon which makes them a bargain.

Unless you own a DA polisher I'd bring it to a pro. Doing the entire process of bar, polish, sealer and/or wax takes forever by hand is is far too repetitive unless you're the karate kid. Wax-on, wax-off. ALL DAY. It will hurt your body, especially if you're older.

First off... nice ride!

Second... always clay a new car at the first wash. I went through 2 bars on my '17. Just a ton of crap gets in the paint when it sits on the lot. It seems to be just the way things work!

Next you have to decide if you want to go over the top with the paint or just do more than most people would even bother with. I went the second route and decided to go with a sealant.

I chose Klasse AIO and Klasse SG. There are newer things to use but those together are a pretty solid bet on a new car. Personally, I think a sealant is plenty as you can just re-apply every 6 months.

I don't get people that spend 3k+ for paint protection. For that much you can pretty much just get a re-paint when the time comes! But then again... to each their own and everyone has their own opinion. Do what makes you comfortable and happy!
