I love rainX and use it on my truck and all past vehicles I've owned, but with my camaro I use crystal seal, DG aquawax, and DG rinseless so that I can use the same products everywhere and don't have to change to rainX for the windows and it's working great so far. Not quite as good as RainX but still good enough.

I use the Stoner Invisible Glass window spray (as posted by another person) and old newspaper paper to wipe it. Old school trick but the newspaper still works great.

Specifically, it doesn't leave streaks.

I may have to drag out the Windex. The inside of my windshield is covered with some kind of light haze that is really only visible when heading into the sun. (I am not a smoker, either) You can take a paper napkin and if you wipe hard, it comes off to some extent, but leaves distracting streaks. I tried a fancy cleaner (think it was Invisible Glass, but will have to double-check) and it left so much residue that I couldn't even attach the suction cup for my radar detector mount.

I have heard that vinegar works on glass too. Any thoughts?

I do use Rainx on at least the windshield of my truck and malibu.
Awesome!

Streak free every time:

#1!!! Wipe dry glass with a clean dry microfiber cloth - use a utility cloth so it leaves no fibers. This is to remove grease that the glass cleaner will just spread- leaving streaks.
Dilute glass cleaner 1:1 with distilled water
Clean glass Using a glass cloth so it does not absorb all the glass cleaner into the towel
Buff off cleaner with a different clean towel.

If you want to seal:

Polish with glass polish and white pad. I use CG Water Spot Remover Polish.
Apply Gyeon View Quartz Coating (or whatever you like)

Windex is very harsh and VERY expensive relative to buying pro detailer glass cleaner by the gallon and diluting.

The white haze is grease that has mixed with your glass cleaner and been spread around. Try wiping with a dry cloth before applying cleaner to physically rub off grease before it goes into solution and is spread thinly all over the glass with your cleaning method.

Thanks for the info and ideas, KirkH!

The concept of a "glass cloth" is new to me.

I thought it was the dash outgassing that forms that film?

I use Rain-X 2 in 1 glass cleaner and rain repellent with a glass cloth. I'm happy with it.

If that were the case in every car, then you would always have white haze. I don't get the white haze if I wipe the glass FIRST with a dry, clean cloth that has never been used with wax or polish.

I also do glass last to clean off any trim dressing that may splash on the glass.

Well, I don't know what's causing the film, but I have to get rid of it with something that will clean it off. I will definitely try rubbing with a microfiber cloth before washing. Now that we're into the late autumn, the sun is lower in the sky when I am traveling, and the smokey film is really bothersome.

Thanks for the glass towel link!

First I wash it, then clay, then polish with a glass polishing pad and Wolfgang glass polish or Ceriglass to make sure all the road grime and all bonded contaminants are off. Then a wipe down with an IPA solution then apply Optimum Opti-glass. Set for 12 months or more.
Obviously this may be a little extreme for new car or a car that has had the glass thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis since new, but even at a couple thousand miles, depending on where you live, road grime and contaminants can be difficult to remove completely.
