Adam's polishes question
Well I decided to go ahead and polish my car today. I just finished claying which it really needed but I am not seeing a lot that needs to be corrected. I am going to use my trusty porter cable. My question is should go ahead and use the correcting (orange) polish or just jump to the finishing polish (white)? I think the heat here in Houston is making me a bit lazy today and I am torn between doing that one extra step.

Sounds like you don't need the correcting step… But take this opportunity to learn, do your other car's trunk lid or fender with both and then other half with just the finishing polish. The smoother the surface the more final gloss, And durability of your LSP.

Thanks. I have been polishing my own cars for over a decade but I always use orange then white then sealer then wax. I never deviated. I just did half the hood orange and white and the other half white and I can’t see a difference

Exactly… On new cars you can way overstep and overthink it… I've done a ton of side by sides over 10 years of 98% of the time I can't tell a damn bit of difference....LOL

I have used all of their polishes and there's a big difference between Correcting and Finishing. I used Finishing on my brand new ZL1 that had never been washed or detailed improperly, and it was all I needed. Correcting does a good job of medium to light swirls. Their Heavy is what most regular Polishes are to be honest. Doesn't cut super aggressively even with their microfiber pads. At least that's been my experience. IMO you might be better off to just one step it with Correcting. I doubt you'll see a difference and the Correcting will be sure to mop up any super faint swirls and level down the paint some more. One stepping with Finishing should probably be left for truly brand new finishes or nearly perfect finishes. It's essentially a gloss adder. Very very little cut. Which may be all you need. Happy polishing.

Your car is silver base colored. Defects are hard to see on this base color, so unless it's in just the right lighting, you probably wont be able to see them.

All done. I need to wait another 12 hours before I can wax.

Thanks. My previous car was a white Charger which also was a challenge to find imperfections. I use an led light stick when looking. Granted I have only owned this car for 6 months and is my daily though garaged while at home. I expected a lot worse. During the winter correction I will more than likely hit the entire. At with orange and white. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by zirad54; 07-29-2018 at 12:43 PM. Reason: Left something out |
