Wow haven’t heard from you in a long time!! How are your lifts going?

I was out 8 months last year after tearing my right pec and having it surgically repaired. After that I had surgery on my left shoulder. Been back about 4 months.

My other half is kicking ass still.

I left the CF gym I was working out at because some of my lifts went down. Been on my own the last year or so and despite a handful of overuse injuries because I program aggressively, I'm in objectively better shape than I was. I also bailed on a TOXIC gf, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

The .5s of the last two years have been done friday night at my gym. I'm looking forward to seeing how many people try to pace this like Fran--ie as fast as possible--and blow themselves up during the first round.

Only the .5's? You should encourage them to do it for every Open workout. It's a sight to see here....the amount of people, the athletes. Here's a link the registration for tonight if you want to pass it along.

I don't think anyone that has done CF for any length of time would make that mistake. Fran is an all out sprint this isn't even close to that. Although watching Mat and Tia doing it last night it looked like one. But even they broke it up right from the start.

Monique is good at these longer workouts....wish it was pullups and not C2B. Can't tell you how she will break those up. Just an average exercise for her...the most she can do in a row is 16. Thrusters are a good exercise for her. Probably going to do 3 sets of 11 to start, then 14 and 13, and should be unbroken from there.

13:52. She had said she wanted 14:00. I didn't really see how she was going to make up that much time but she did. She did one set of 10 C2B's and the other 95 I am pretty sure were all singles.

Gonna be her highest open workout finish ever which is awesome considering she is very mediocre at C2B's.

It's official now....

Monique made it to the "next round". She finished 106th worldwide.

Next round determines who goes to the Games. This year only the top 10 go. We will have to get very, very lucky with the workouts. A more realistic shot to get to the games will be next year.

At any rate super proud of her! Just 6.5 years ago she was a 206lb woman that had never touched a weight!

So I said I was gonna stop at a 315 bench but I just can't do it. I just can't be an "average" Joe in the gym when it comes to lifting and especially the bench. So I did 340 off 3 boards last week. Taking this week off because well I'm tired. Been at it a hard 18 weeks and feel run down. But when I return I will work my way down to my chest over 3 weeks, then go to 365 and do the same thing then I will reassess.

In other news...

Monique weighed in on Friday at 139.6. First time she has been under 140 since we went to Mexico in 2013. She typically Feb-Oct is 145ish. Nov-Jan she goes up to 155ish.

The Crossfit online qualifier is this weekend and needless to say she is as ready as she can be. We are hoping for a finish above her Open finish which was 106th.

Wow..,awesome thread...just skipped through...but I like it!
I was a gym rat back in the day..then work/life/wife/kids...
Now, im semi-retired. The kids semi-gone, away at different schools.

Haven't hit the gym just yet but I'm down to my ideal body weight of 175. I'm 5'10".
I was 206 last April 2018...body by "Bud" you could say.

Been traveling, walking, eating healthy, kayaking, cycling, wrenching on my cars, honey do projects etc.
That's how I lost close to 30 pounds
Just when Im getting the time to hit the weights, I had a slight setback
Had a weird looking cyst type growth removed from my chest a few days ago..waiting for pathology results.

Sorry for the rant, go Monique, and MyDivorceGift...best name ever!
