What was the first 5th Gen you saw?

For me, 5th gen Camaro's were a love at first sight type thing. I didn't grow up in a car family with the exception of my grandfather, who hasn't been able to afford a hot rod since he started a family. One of our favorite activities to do together was to go down to the drag strip for the night. One of those nights was in the summer of 2009. Although we saw many crazy builds that made a lot more power, my favorite run of the night were two inferno orange 5th gens that ran head to head and still had temporary tags. I didn't even know what they were but I loved them. Maybe I saw one on the street before this, but this was my first distinct memory.

Fast forward to now. Last year I bought my very own 2010 SS that is my prized possession. I can attribute part of the reason I got the car to that drag race back in 2009. I spend a lot of times on the forums now, and stumbled upon the official 1/4 Mile (V8) 2010+ thread. I start scrolling through some of the individual time slips and saw a post (post #7) from PatrickfromMD that was saying how he ran his buddies car head to head a few times. I noticed his profile pic was an inferno orange camaro, then I noticed that the time slip was from 75-80 (local drag strip that is now closed) and my heart skipped a beat. I scrolled to the bottom of the post and sure enough, there was a picture of two inferno orange 5th gens lined up. Camaro5 is a way cool place, thanks for letting me relive a part of my childhood!

But the 1st time I saw the 5th gen was at the New York Auto Show.

First noted the concept 5th Gens back early last decade. Then I saw one I think it was 06 or 07 or something and it was love at first sight as well...

After owning two 4th gens ('95 Z28 and '99 Z28) and seeing the Camaro line come to an end after 2002. The thought of a new Camaro, and the way the designs were going was very exciting. When the rumors and early stories began, that's when I knew I had to have one.

Something clicked when I began to just spontaneously look at getting one by starting my search online. The very next day I found this jewel in Riverside, and the rest is history...

The first time I saw a 5th gen was in 2006 at the chevy display during the Woodward dream cruise. I have a magnet on my garage fridge from that day with the camaro of me and my wife holding our 1 year old son(he's now 11)

First time I saw one, of course it was red, at night & thought how cheap, the tail light, light also was coming between the chrome ring and red plastic surround. I was driving my 08 Mustang at the time. Who knew I would fall head over heels for a 2013 White convertible in 2015? Traded the Mustang in on the spot!

I first saw the concept at the gathering in Atlanta fast forward and not sure of the amount of time but at lunch one day I saw a ABM car and thought OMG thats it the new camaro is on the streets and I fell in love with that car. Went to the same place for lunch for several days hoping to get a better look at it. Finally did and talked to the (kid) who's parents bought it for him for graduation.

The first 5th gen Camaro I saw was in Detroit at the private unveiling of the concept Camaro on January 6, 2006.

Not memorable enough to retain. For me it was just another new car.
I remember the first 98 corvette to hit the dealership I worked at. That car was amazing.
