Are these tires still ok after 10 laps Nordschleife
Hey guys,
I was on my very first track day yesterday. I did 10 laps Nordschleife in 2 to 3 lap stints, moderate speed because I’m unexperienced. Outside temp was around 12C (55 F) so really cold. I started with 34 PSI tire pressure and it went up to like 39PSI. The car has the track alignment and stock tires. The stock tires don’t look and feel good now. They moved rubber to the inside. So what do you experienced guys say, what went wrong and can I still use this tires? Does the rubber bead go away? thanks for some tips. |

They're fine. The built up rubber will wear away.

That's not rubber from your tires, that's call "pickup" and it comes from boogers of other tires. Most of those boogers are from soft track tires. You can use a stiff scraper to pull off the pickup, or you can just wait for it to wear off.
Other than the pickup, your tires look great, you didn't overdrive the car like I usually do. |

It is also a sign that your pressures were way too high (build up in the middle and zero wear on the shoulders).
Starting oem tires at 34 is way too high, given 32 is recommended for normal street driving. Cheers! |

Thanks for your answers!
I already thought that the pressures were to high at 39 warm and will lower them next time when I m on a track. Other than that I will just wait for the rubber to wear and life with the noise the tires make. Thx guys! |

A slight correction on my post above:
Ive just realized your car is not a 1le and your tires are not G3s, so i dont know what GM recommended cold street pressure is. Check the door sticker please and adjust from there. Not having driven on those tires id offer a general advice of 2psi less then what is specified on a door as a start. If they feel greasy after warming up that would be a sign of over heating and a need to lower the pressure further. From here go by 1psi and see how they feel. And perhaps ask on the forum what other folks run these tires hot pressure wise on a track. Cheers! |

A bit off topic, but what were your times?
Way jealous of anyone that gets to run that track. I'm sure I'll never get over there. |

You just picked up some clag during your cool-down. They're feel odd until you wear it off.
The hot pressures seem like they're a whiff high, but looking at your wear pattern, they look fine. On the 1LE setups the target is roughly 37 PSI hot, but they're also more track-oriented tires than what you're running. That's just FYI.
