2019 Automatic Vehicle Software Updates

The 2019 Camaro Playbook says,

"An updatable platform with Cloud connectivity (automatic vehicle software updates to be uploaded over the air)"

Has anyone heard what vehicle software can be updated over the air? Does this mean you never have to go to the dealer for firmware updates?

If it's the same as pre-2019, then it'll be the available apps in the Shop app as well as what's available within the Marketplace app.

I see. So they are not really vehicle updates, but updates to the Apps.

I thought it was supposed to be some of the system software.

Incorrect, GM will be trying to actually push system and firmware apps out thru the system. Currently Onstar has been using the system to push updates and such to make sure it will work.

Just for reference, our 2018 GMC Terrain has been pushed infotainment updates. It will do it through the OnStar connection or through our personal wifi which is nice.

I highly doubt GM will push powertrain updates through this system.

I wish GM was more specific about this.

If it's like most current updates from companies except for tesla, it's limited to audio and infotainment units.
