CLOSED: ZL1 Differential 3.73

Searching for a ZL1 3.73 differential to set aside for a fall/winter project.

CLOSED- found what I needed. Ebay and Facebook were better resources for these parts. Many leads.

If not a bother, and to to hijack the thread, but why you decided to go with 3.73 over 3.91?

Thanks

There's nothing to hijack here, glad to answer! The 3.91 differential may not reliably handle the amount of power I have. From what I understand it's basically identical to the stock SS m6 3.45 but with a different ratio. The ZL1 3.73 is heavy duty and beefed up for the power. It's much more substantial.

Again not to hijack, but it is my understanding no one makes gears for the ZL1 differential and the only choices are 3.23 and 3.73. I could be wrong, but this is what I saw when I was looking for the same thing for my car. You need Diff half shafts driveshaft something on the end of the transmission oil block off lines as the ZL1 has a cooler. I am sure I am missing some small stuff but this is the list as I remember it.

You are correct. A 3.73 is an improvement for my car so I wouldn't need to swap gears in it. I can source aftermarket or OE zl1 half shafts and a driveshaft that are compatible. The main cost is the differential carrier which is why I'm trying to find one used as top priority of the conversion parts list. I'd plug the oil cooler orifices same way GM does for the GMPP kit
