Driver door lock/unlock jamming
Hi camaro5 community,
I need your help in trying to figure out how to fix my door lock/unlock issue. So today when I went to unlock my car using the key fob, the drivers side door lock stick thingy (in the rear corner of the window) comes up about a quarter of the way and stops. The door is still locked. I then proceeded to open the door by using the key hole and that unlocked it (so it isn't the key barrel). When the lock stick thing was up fully and unlocked, I tried locking it with the key fob and power door locks and it only goes about a quarter of the way down and stays unlocked. I could hear something inside the door near the handle jamming but no clue as to what mechanism is causing the problem. I hope someone will help me out as I do not want to go to the dealer for what appears to be a simple fix.

I would say, something is up with the motor that runs the power lock. Pull the panel. Activate the keyfob and watch what happens. Either something is jamming it, something needs to be adjusted, or you need a new motor. Eyeball it.

Based on what you've described, sounds like the electronic locking solenoid is sticking or going bad. Had a similar issue a few year's ago on my Wife's '05 Monte Carlo SS. It was still under warranty and the dealership took care of it, so I'm not sure what the DIY fix would be.

Thanks for the advice. I will remove the door panel and see what's going on.
If it is indeed the electronic door actuator, where would I be able to buy that part direct from GM to install it myself?

Napa carries (or can order) things like that - got them for my Avalanche anyway, so I assume they can get Camaro. |

Thanks for the responses everyone. Turns out they magically fix themselves and haven't had an issue with them since. Must be this ridiculous heat in So Cal making it jammed or something....

So i ended up buying a new actuator since it jammed again and didnt want to risk getting locked out. Anyone have a guide or DIY on how to replace a driver door actuator?
