Its been widely reported (by average Joes driving both cars) that the Mustang 5.0 is easier to launch than the Camaro SS.

In almost every video I've seen, the Mustang gets off the line faster than the Camaro (stock vs stock).

But both cars are very close in performance.

It's the potential of the car. In the right conditions with the right driver, they will easily be in the 12's. Condtions and driver are everything.

Motortrend ran 12s in 15 consecutive runs(not all are in this video), 12.7 @ 112 mph being their best for the Mustang. The M3's best time was 12.8 @ 111 mph over multiple runs. All the official times out there show that the Mustang is a good .2-.3 tenths faster, drivers being equal.

I agree 100% there, though 5.0 owners can do the same mods and make the difference through the 1/4 mile even greater than that. Just saying. Their engines respond a tad better to mods, Ford purposely kept the Coyote's #'s lower so it can be made more powerful in the future.

I don't wanna say this is BS on the video... But I'd love to see this car run in the 12s in person with those 255's in the back. I had a modded G8 before the Camaro that had 245's in the back... and even with simple mods its was all over the road when you got on it. Traction control or not... as light as that car is... I'd have to see it in person. Maybe with slicks on it I'd believe it

ok. It will run low-mid 12s(minimum) if you put slicks on it, hell it will run 11s with basic bolt ons and slicks ! There's an owner on here that has been running consistent 12s with his new Mustang GT 5.0 automatic, he traded in his LS3 Camaro for it and has posted timeslips !

Here's one running 11s only with a tune/bolt ons and making 405 rwhp.




This just has slicks and a Lethal Performance 3" Offroad X-pipe. It ran 12.35 @ 111 mph.

Even the convertibles are running 12's in the hands of the pro drivers over at MT
