Once the new platform pays for itself, will prices decrease?

Random speculation for the next 4 years or so. Some of it is pretty decent info.

According to them, it will be a crossover not an SUV

So Ford is bringing back the Ranger and Bronco. This could get interesting.

Yeah, saw that. Not sure why another crossover is needed. Build the blazer on the colorado platform, they already do it oversees...make SS and ZR2 versions and make us happy.

The goal is sales & profit ... not making enthusiasts happy. The vast majority of people want the size & space of an SUV but don't care for truck-like ride, handling, or fuel economy. Hence, crossovers. Sure, an SUV is going to be a bit better than a similar crossover while off-road or towing. But since most people (including SUV owners) never do those things, that advantage is largely irrelevant. About the biggest argument for making a midsize SUV is to offer something to people who simply don't like the concept of a crossover and don't want something as big as a Tahoe. I'm not sure thats a very big group of people.
