Alignment after new tires necessary?
Hi all, will be going from stock 2ss wheels/tires to MRR017s with 285/30/20 front, 305/30/20 rear. My car tracks straight. Should I get an alignment with the new wheels/tires? Just don't like dealers/shops working on my car unless I have to.

Factory alignment can be poor and usually an alignment check is "free" and the only charge is if its out. Mount/balance of tires and alignment are really different things for a tech I'd really check out that part of the shop you choose. Some want to put it in the "green" (inspec) and call it good enough and you might want more care used there like getting the camber dialed in etc etc

Thanks. I'm getting tires/wheels from PK Auto, so planning to put them on myself. I haven't had any issues, but the tread's getting low on the original tires. So I'm wondering if I can just put the new setup on and be done, or if I should take it in to be aligned.

If the tread wore evenly on the previous set of tires (inside vs. middle vs. outside) and the car doesn't pull to one side when driving straight on a flat road (and while braking) then there's no reason to spend money on an alignment.

You should absolutely be able to bolt them right on without needing an alignment. I concur with Post #4

My Camaro drove straight but the camber was off on the right rear wheel. That burned up the tire after 8,000 miles. If you have the GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 SUPERCAR 3 tires you might find they are a little softer than the UTQG rating of 220.
