My SS 1LE @ SCCA Bristol Champ Tour
As always the event was a blast and I'm satisfied with the results. I know I could've done better if I hadn't botched day 1 so bad. Obviously my target was the GT350 but as you can see I lost to him ever so slightly because of my day 1 deficit was just too big to overcome. That being said beating him by about 3 tenths on day 2 was very enjoyable. To me the highlight of the competition was how well Steve Vrooman did in his Challenger Scat Pack. His only mods are chassis bracing and 285 Bridgestone RE 71R's on all four corners. Even still he wheeled his 4200# car unlike anything I've ever seen. I can't help but imagine what he would've done in a lighter car.
So a few notes about the competition. I was the only car not on brand new or near new BFG Rivals or Bridgestone RE 71R's! The winning GT500 was a FULLY PREPPED CAM CAR!!! I'm talking serious weight reduction and brand new 335 BFG Rivals on all 4 corners. The GT350 also had RE-71R's and he was a talented driver as well. I feel like using Steve's Challenger as a bench mark I should've been as much faster than him on day 1 as I was on day 2 had that been the case I would've run away with the #2 spot, but no excuses here. As far as I know the GT350 had a lot more in it as well on day 1. https://dk1xgl0d43mu1.cloudfront.net...pdf?1499250186

Awesome! I'm satisfied you beat him at least once. Less horsepower and heavier car means the odds were stacked against you! I can't wait to get my hands on one of these.

I think we're close to the same weight the Shelby may actually be heavier, but he definitely had me out tired. It's also worth noting the White Mustang GT we also raced had a 315 square setup. So myself and the Challenger had the smallest front tires at 285 but he had the RE 71R's

Interesting that you were still able to hold on. I'd imagine a beefier set up and even larger tires would garner the results you want Or POWER! Regardless these cars are nothing short of exceptional stock.

Good job Michael, I have run some national events over the years and usually I do better on one day for some reason, too. Nice runs on the day 2.
I ran the SCCA ProSolo at Crows Landing earlier this with my stock 1LE in the CAM class. I really like that class, we had 16 entries, all CAM classes are combined for Prosolo and I had a great time. Good luck the rest of the year, these cars are awesome. |

I just took a quick look at the final results you posted and sure enough the guy that destroys us in A-Street locally was #1 haha Laurence Casey is just ridiculously fast! I saw two more of the guys I run against in the top 10 as well, so yea I say it's probably a good thing you went with Cam haha nice job Mike!

Nice job, great to see these cars competing so well at this level. Also impressed with the scat pack performance, In the test drives I took in a SRT I didn't feel these 6.4 challengers were as bad handling as everyone makes them out to be, and this is proof of that, Add some tires and chassis stiffening and they are competitive.
I had to do a double take on the Plexi Glass Parachute (I mean spoiler) bolted to the trunk of the GT500, wow. Keep up the good work

Great showing! CAM-C in a stock 1LE is going to be a tough get.
I'm in a knife fight myself here in Central Florida in AS with a C6 ZL1, 911 and C5Z. It's astonishing what this car can do on the stock GY rubber. IMHO, the GT350 (non-R) is completely outclassed at AutoX and on track. I have beaten all the GT350s at every event this year in RAW and PAX. I lapped the lone GT350R to show at Sebring (Chin, 6/17). http://www.photosbyjuha.com/ALL-2017...EW/i-JvCs34b/A BTW - That's Darren in the pax seat. You may know him

Thanks! Honestly the GT350 surprised me a little bit, I know he was on the RE-71rs but I still didn't expect as much out of him. Even still I feel like my day 2 result was more indicative of where the cars actually stacked up against each other. Day 1 was totally on me as a Rookie driver. I still need to load up the PDR footage of the fastest laps from each day.
