My "Factory Stock" 1/4 mile rant.
Is it just me or is this stock 1/4 thing getting crazy? Don't get me wrong I have always been a straight line fan but the 5gen ZL1, 1LE and the new line up of Camaros have opened up my eyes to a broad range of performance. In my opinion I think we all know ANY one of these manufacturers can drop in a bunch of HP and go low to mid 10's maybe even 9.99 . I think GM has been doing a great job at turning out an all around performance car in the Camaro. Heck it's only bragging rights until you hit the streets anymore I mean the SS is now capable of high 11's . Now you'll get the hellcat fans they'll want to say it's small ya can't see out of them. The stang guy's will say it's ugly lol but IMO it's easier and cheaper going straight .Rant Over flame on

Lol yeah I get tired of debating a few 3 or 4 tenths between factory car's. We go at it pretty hard at work with each other

I'm just happy the pony car wars are in full swing again and they are trying to outdo each other in everything.

It's definitely forcing all manufacturers to keep pace.

It is nearly impossible to be anywhere near consistent on street tires. You could spin badly with a 2.3 second 60 and run a 12.2, then hit the sweet spot next time and reproduce the factory claimed 11.4. Quarter mile E.T. is highly dependent on your traction at the launch. Quarter mile trap MPH is a far better barometer of what type of car you will have on the street. Cars that trap 105 are quick on the street while cars that post 125 or better are monsters.

They are all fast enough to kill ya... let's face facts we are all old now and better suited to cars and coffee as opposed to street racing....

I guess I should have clarified didn't necessarily mean the street. I was generally talking manufacturers 1/4 time's and bragging rights. These days lightly modded cars are turning in some good times.

Agreed. Anyone remember this 85 hp wonder or the dark years between 2002 and 2009 when Camaro was not even produced.

I don't know if 2002-2009 were the dark years. They kept fouling the car up from 1994-2002 and haven't gotten it right until now.. 4th Gen was ugly as can be and weird insofar as engine was under the cowl and 5th Gen was a boat with limited space. With those things in mind, thankfully they paired weight and found out they had a superchargedotor to fit in it or else Chevrolet would have missed the mark.
