I definitely will. "Simple" isn't a word I'd use right now, hence wanting the control panel.

I had found one in a junk yard for around $115 shipped but now it's sold. Here's one on eBay, a lot more but at least it's available.

If I did go the route of the whole control unit will I also get functional dual zone climate control or does that require additional external parts?

Correct.
Requires one additional temp sensor, harness and the Evap box itself is different.
All parts are available. About $200.
I never use auto anyway, so not concerned.

That might mess with my OCD LOL! You think seat mounted switches will be an option for both heat and vent if desired?

3rd time was the charm. Finally got it.
Should have a little time tomorrow to test out the controls and harness. Unfortunately a good deal needs to come apart. Radio, center console and front of dash.

Congrats. What does the back of the unit look like? Are there plugs behind the heat/cool switches?

No, it's the same 10 pin connector used in all Camaro models. The HVAC mod is the same also. In theory it should communicate the exact same way.

I don't even own a 1LE yet and I'm glued to this thread and it's development. I wish I had one so I could help contribute, but I'm about 5 months out.
Keep up the good work.

Update:
It works. Not so simple. The circuit board has to be changed to have to fan speed work correct. This involved trimming the rubber under it.
The screen for fan speed also needs to be swapped as it reads in numbers and the screen didn't. The switches for the seats need to be moved to our control panel.
I have the passenger side heat and vent working. Have to add several wires about 10 from pass to drivers to get that working. I don't have correct terminals for the body harness, so waiting on those.
Everything is ran from the correct circuit to insure no problems.
Here are a few pics I've taken to give you an idea of the swaps. I will do a complete parts list and more in detail write up soon.
Heat is awesome. Gets pretty warm pretty fast. Vent, yes, you can feel and if put the AC to floor makes getting in your car at 100'f a bit nicer. Again, drivers side isn't hooked up yet.

Looking forward to the final write up.

Bit more involved than I hoped... But, hey, nothing ventured....
Have a lot of pics to organize.
