The Pony Car has certainly seen some dark years and that is putting it very tactfully. The current performance era II as many are calling it now is something that no one expected or predicted. 400+ horsepower is now commonplace with 650+ available and 800 in some offerings on deck. These are the very best of times for performance junkies. The naysayers of the early 2000s were calling for the end of all this due to gov't regulations etc. The exact opposite has occurred. Some manufacturers are now producing nearly 600HP out of less than 4 liters, crazy and wasn't even a wild dream ten years ago. Equally as impressive are the current electrics which are not my cup of tea but cannot be ignored as they are unquestionably the future, far sooner than later.

With those things in mind, thankfully they paired weight and found out they had a superchargedotor to fit in it or else Chevrolet would have missed the mark.
In the 80's the car was ok but the power was grossly lacking due to the environmentalists. An example would be the '85 TPI 305 inch 215hp engine. It wasn't bad but it was rather anemic by the standards of the 60's, 70's and the latter 90's. Today's offering is light years better than all previous engines with the exception of cubic inches. The upside of today is the power adder. Buick showed early on that the turbo was a viable source of power.

I loved the WS6. Still good looking today. I liked the Firehawk too. The 2004 Cobra was a nice looking car, but I liked my WS6 better.

Yes! I been around since the muscle beginning in the 1960s. My black '97 TA M6 WS6 was one of the most bada$$ looking cars I have seen or owned. That LT1 was maybe the best sounding Chevy ever. But it had trouble running under 14 seconds, the windshield covered 1/2 of the engine, and the distributor was under the water pump.

While I loved that car I have no wish for another one. The modern muscle is so much better in every way.

But, that is in your opinion...I actually thought my '95 Z28 and '00 SS were both good looking cars...shitty interiors, yeah. But, I mean have you seen the Mustang from the same era? Now that is ugly...

Those cars weren't Lamborghinis, so you can't expect sexy, exotic looks, but still, I liked them, and know many others who do too.

With the 2000 Z, those small changes they made to the SS version made a huge difference! I liked the look of them too.

Totally Agree, '98-'02 WS6's were the high point of that generation of pony/sports/muscle cars. That's why I still have one ......for now..... That 1LE is soo dam tempting.

I thought the 98 SS were very nice cars, and with converter only, optional 3.23 gears, summer tire option they were in the high 12s on stock GS-C tires... not'n wrong with that. There were some M6 claims of 12s bone stock, never saw one, but good air, prep track (which I never had) quite possible.

Sorry don't buy the poor interior, for a 90s muscle car, I was quite happy with the interior. Not the Mustangs of the same year, I really hated..
