That's going to happen with a softer sidewall, car will tend to sway more

^ this^ and don't go try and take corners fast either. I know this idiot that thought since he put DRs on his SS he could take off ramps faster. Well he almost took himself out and didn't understand why a stickier tire felt that way. DRs are for straight line acceleration not road courses.

That is how DRs behave. Just wait till how that feels when you launch at the track with a low PSI. lol.

A bias ply tire would feel like this not a drag radial. Especially if its a 20. There is simply not enough sidewall for that to be the issue, plus radials are designed to have stiff sidewalls and not wad up the way a slick does. There is most likely something else going on. You would have to run them with no air in them for it to feel the way you described.
Have you changed anything else? What kind of speeds are we talking about? Check the circumference of the tires. Tires made on different molds and from different batches can be different sizes even though the tire size on the sidewall is the same. Mickey Thompson drag radials are racing tires and built to different standards than production car tires. I have seen many many times where two tires show up and they are different sizes causing the car to do weird things. This is where I would start. Also, keep in mind that launching a car on sticky tires with a good amount of power is know to make eccentric bolts move. IF this is whats happening, that means your alignment has changed. It's possible the rear toe or thrust angle is out of alignment, causing the issues you're describing. Either scenario is completely plausible and possible. Feel free to call me or or post up if you have more questions or want more info on how to check the tires and alignment. Pete |

You put these on the stock rims correct? Kinda off topic but are you noticing any rubbing issues at all and are you still running the 285-30s up front with no issues with the electronics because of the difference in diameter.

If you put the 305 ET Street S/S on the car then you shouldn't be having that big of a problem.
However I know people that hate Mickey drag radials for that exact reason (Big end sway). Friend of mine put 20" drag radials on his Vette wheels, we took it out for a ride, did like 120 and when he let off, the car changed a lane by itself, literally. We went home and changed the tires. If you can't get it resolved, then I highly advise switching to a NT05R. Slightly stiffer sidewall, slightly less launch, but more stability in all circumstances. At least that's what us local car group guys have deduced. |

I had the same issue when I first installed MT on my 2012 ZL1, but after a few weeks it got a lot better. To the point I stopped noticing. Put another 8k on them with no complaints.

I went with NT555Rs on my 600+whp 1LE and my current SS. @32 pounds no sway and those tires held nice on the street. They wear pretty well, better than MTs in the rain and I was still able to cut 1.7s at the strip although MTs will hook better. Also not so bad on a race track. If you can only have 1 set of rear tires.....

I have driven to the track with 305 MT 20's, ran them and then drove back (25 miles each way) about 6-7 times last year. I honestly feel the the taller sidewall gave a better ride then the GYs and I didn't notice any sway on the street.
