Yeah, the car turns in great with the current suspension setup. That course was just punishing for a big car though, hard offsets and a tight pinch in the turnaround. I felt like I was lucky to finish as well as I did.

Looking forward to September when our local Autocross club resumes again. In the meantime I'm doing my 1st track night in America event. Such a fun car!

I haven't shared any video, so I thought I would. Have a non-PDR 1LE, so the video is from my Iphone with Harry's laptimer. No OBD-II input, but external GPS.

Stock 2017 SS 1LE on stock 7k mile tires. Has track alignment and recommended fluid changes for track. This was my fastest time of the day despite the major screw up at the end. This was my worst finish of the year indexed relative to top pax, which is all on me. Totally love the car.

A black hood wouldn't have mattered for your camera location and likely light-metering. It's reading the entire view as being on average a lot darker than the smallish view out the windshield, which makes that part overexposed. Try using spot metering - it's specifically recommended for videos taken through car windshields. If that's not enough, try mounting the camera off your helmet or on the dash. Experiment before you go, and good luck.

I think the perspective of the video is very instructive with respect to how to autocross well. Smooth inputs and looking ahead. Beautiful work. 1st in PAX at Milwaukee is no joke. Great driving!!!

I would appreciate any comments or help regarding autocross-specific wheel/tire combos for my A street 1SS 1LE. My stock tires work well, but seem to need two runs to get up to temp, and I think they are getting worse the more I drive on them in general.

My initial plan was to go with 295/30/20 RE-71r's on the stock rims, but the more I have thought about it, I believe that going with 305/30/19 RE-71r's on 19's is probably the way to go. I think that there are traction, gearing, and even center of gravity benefits to going with the 305/30/19.

The only other alternative at this point in my mind would be to put another set of OEM tires on it. From my understanding in reading this forum, the RE-71R's seem to be .5 to 1 second faster on a 60-second course versus the OEM tires. It is not clear to me whether the 295/20's are significantly slower than the 305/19's.

Of course, things might change in the world of 200TW tires before next year, but I am trying to plan my budget for next year. I was planning to go with the MRR M755 (ZR1 reps) 19" rims in legal sizes and offset or the ZL1 1LE 19" rims. Can't seem to find any cheaper or lighter alternatives in wheels. If anyone knows of other wheel options, would love to know them.

Definitely go with the 305 RE71Rs and 19s, I did just that with a set of ZL1 1LE reps.
