BOUGHT THE ZL1 OEM SIDE ROCKERS!

The zl1 side rockers are available now! for anyone interested. i contacted thatgmpartsguy and he said the were available and gave me the part numbers. i placed the order last week and they just arrived yesterday and today( the come straight from gm in separate boxes). anyways a couple of things to keep in mind since i wasn't sure exactly what i was expecting..

1) They DO NOT come painted. they come in a dark grey color.

2) THESE ARE NOT ADD ONS like the gfx kit. They are actually full replacements for the lower panel under the door with the side rockers integrated into it. Kinda of sucks cause now i have to color match the the section in front of the rear wheels and then paint the lower half gloss black. Gotta pay to play I suppose

I just wanna give a shout out to Matthew i think was the one i was taking to, from thatgmpartsguy. Best customer service ive experienced in a while. Quick to respond to my emails and quick to get info for me from gm as well.

Part numbers:

LH Side # 84177431
RH Side # 84177432

I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE TO FOR GETTING EVERYONE'S HOPES UP AND LYING. FELLOW FORUM MEMBER POINTED OUT THAT THE ROCKERS ARE IN FACT NOT AN EXACT FIT. THE FRONT DOES STICK OUT BECAUSE OF THE ZL1'S WIDER FENDER. I GUESS I WAS TOO EXCITED TO EVEN NOTICE IT, SO PLEASE FORGIVE MY IGNORANCE. I WILL STILL BE INSTALLING THEM BUT I'LL HAVE TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO COVER THAT GAP AND HAVE IT LOOK AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE.

The last picture shows where the issue is

So it's basically a rocker with the GFX kit molded into it? Less hassle installing other then needs paint?

Edit: Never mind i see the difference at the front, haven't really looked at photos of the car. Looked up and see the difference between the GFX and the ZL1

Might be the way to go for me rather then ACS's if it snaps back on without drilling any holes into the car. I see the trim molding tools there on the towel so i guess that answers my question on how it comes off.

No drilling at all, once you get the old one off you just pop it into place. Can't be too scared to get in there with the molding tools though or you'll take a while to get the old one off. And you will break a few clips but the new one comes with all the clips needed already in place

I think this is a way better solution than drilling holes. You can always revert back to original if need be. I like it, I like it a lot.

Also, you can try Plasti Dip as a temporary solution to painting. They have come a long way with that product.

Definitely, I'm trying to stay away from plastidip this time around( I went crazy with plastidip on my 5th gen lol). This is the perfectopic choice for anyone wrapping their whole car though!

Tredwear , there's a thread around here where I posted what I used to clean them and make them white again.
