cutouts?

Anyone have experience with cutouts?

I've never had them, never heard them in person.

I'd love to hear pros and cons from people with first-hand experience.

Thanks

Too loud? Not enabled by default?

I had mine under the car and it jus sounded like open headers

Mine were QTP wireless. Had no issues with the parts

I would jus go headers if it’s an option.

These cars volume wise wake up with headers!!

They are only cool driving into parking lots and setting off alarms. Other than that they are annoying and a waste of money.

They are great for autoX and tracks with no sound limit. I've had the QTP cutouts installed in other cars without any issues. The only time I would use them on the street is if someone refused to get out of the left lane on the freeway. I never seem to have that problem with the ZL1. The front end is so menacing that everyone gets the hell out of your way, except the birds, may they R.I.P. The exhaust note on the ZL1 is already so good I'm not sure it would be worth it. I'd 2nd the long tube header suggestion.

It sounds good but it's not quite loud enough for my taste. I'm definitely doing headers. Where I live there's a lot of young kids with their badly tuned import cars that think they know whats up... Sometimes it's fun to give them a blip or two Shame on me.

Is Rotofab the generally agreed upon favorite? I heard WeaponX is good.

I had cutouts on several cars, my last was an 11 CTS-V with long tubes and catless X. I felt the stock mufflers were far too quiet for my needs. It woke up at WOT, but was super quiet at idle for my taste. Cutouts went on, and were left open about 90% of the time.

QTP Wireless FTW. I have one on my T/A. The NPP offers a similar feature to satisfy my needs for controlling volume.

Plenty of threads on this, Bottom line, there is only so much you can do with a CAI. Unless you go to an intake which requires a tune to account for the increased airflow, like the one from Vengeance, there is not much real life difference I have the Roto-fab, great fit and quality. I have seen the Weapon X, very good fit and quality as well,

Thanks.

TBH I don't care to increase power. For my purposes the 650/650 is more than enough. My interest in mods is for sound and maybe save weight but I don't expect weight savings from an intake.
