Yes they flow the same. I spoke with CAI directly. The only difference between GM one and CAI(non GM one) is something inside the tube. That’s why CAI one does not need tuning. Performance is the same. I had the GM one on my order back when I ordered my ‘22 1LE and it kept not getting accepted. We found because the GM one had been discontinued. So I pulled it off the order and the next week my order was accepted. So I called CAI and ordered from theme directly.

Interesting, the GM one is very definitely a dry filter, perhaps Cold Air Inductions offers both varieties in their own version?

Sadly, never I'm afraid. GM took their shot at the great deal of money that Camaro owners are willing to spend on their cars, but they have to deal directly with the EPA and I'm sure they concluded that making a cai compliant with all the myriad of regulations and turn a profit was limited vs their expenses to meet them. The "thing" inside the tube is some kind of carbon absorption ring that is provided to capture escaping hydrocarbons (bad for the air we breath- contributes to smog), that aftermarket makers don't want to bother with. Also, GM's version required a re-flash of the ECM to run within the parameters of the EPA, and I assume, to keep it running right. I got one (nah, nana, na, na!) I also got a Borla X-pipe that deletes the 2nd cats- but those sadly are no longer available. So I'm not all about clean air (although the 2nd cat changes CO -carbon monoxide to C02, which is bad but not as bad as CO leaking into the car's interior while idling in Lover's Lane). My Lover's Lane days are far behind me- LOL! But I did resort to the back seat of a Pinto in my youth, so no judgement there either.
Anyway, just keep your stock unit for trade-in time and get whatever aftermarket you like- they all have marginal improvement over stock. But they look really cool!

Never, as Ventmaster said above. GM offered it for a while in a slightly modified form, then even that was discontinued, because there is not enough demand to compensate them for the excessive certification fees. Third parties have even less of a budget to wrestle endlessly with CARB.
