Dodge SRT Demon 170 v. ZL1 1LE

I'm 500 lbs. lighter with same power (if I added a LBBFP for sea level). I would love to race him every weekend just for the fun of it.

That car is setup from the factory to be able to put that power down and is geared specifically for the quarter mile. My money would be on the demon 170 in a dig race versus most modded ZL1’s. It will also run it’s advertised time all day without breaking.

Yep. Power to weight ratio is only ONE part of drag racing.

My money would be on him too, but it would be fun. This car has broken a bunch of engines I hear.

I heard the same thing about the new Demon breaking engines. Funny how a big manufacturer like Dodge can't build a reliable engine for the car when other manufacturers have done so with COPO vehicles.

I wonder how reliable this engine is now though....

It's also a $100k (after gas guzzler and transport fee) before you add options. Dodge is doing an interesting and great finally run for sure. But are taking everyone to the bank doing so.

The new Demon broke several engines in development, that's not a bad thing, that just means Dodge was testing its limits I'm sure to determine how strong certain parts needed to be. Some reports of the new Z06 destroying engines within the first 2k miles but do I believe that's a widespread problem that I should be worried about if I were to buy one? No, not at all. The media loves clickbait and headlines and spreads information quickly even if its a small percentage. The original Demon was near bulletproof, I have no reason to believe the new Demon 170 will not be also. The SRT team really knows how to overbuild a vehicle. Comparing a COPO Camaro to a Demon 170 is not the same, a COPO Camaro would be compared to a Dodge Challenger Drag Pack.

Yea, I wouldn't swap my car for his. All things considered, the 1LE is a better all around car

If I had cash to burn, I'd be making sure I got one (Hellcat 170) with the chute. I don't give a hoot that it won't corner

Can’t wait to see the markups on that beast … I will give it to Dodge for supporting and advertising their muscle cars unlike Chevy. GM deserves what they got sales wise because this 6th gen Camaro platform is amazing.

Kudos to Dodge -- I think this is pretty cool. 105mm throttle body, 3.0L supercharger, 21.3 lbs of boost, E85 to hit the max power number.

When I was first reading about the Demon 170 and the need for E85 to hit the max power number, I figured it's probably just a Hellcat / Demon motor and most of the power gain is from ethanol & larger supercharger. But it was nice to see as I kept reading that they upgraded the internals and the drivetrain. Not the car for me, but I respect what they've done here.

Markups will be large but many people will get them at MSRP just like they did with the 2018 Demon. Its about who you know and who well you know them.

Peak ICE performance is here!

6 minutes or so to empty the gas tank at full tilt.
