Usually in auto, in track|sport 2 or track|race mode typically, /w steering set to touring and exhaust set to track...

you may be speaking of the A8 since you mentioned vette also.

the A10 is a completely different animal.

the a8 will allow you to hit the switch several times before it changes. the a10 will barely let you hit it twice before it starts shifting already.

I drive in manual almost exclusively on the street. It responds well and and can keep the revs up to maximize the sound. I use it in auto mode for AutoX. The auto shifts are quicker than I can achieve.

For WOT the paddles work great and are fast. I roll run in auto though. In town paddle shifting is slow (not made for this).
