2019 2SS Bose system upgrades
I'm in the preliminary stages of planning my stereo upgrade. For those of us who have been in the car fi world for 20+ years like me, you get it when I say even the factory Bose fancy system is not as good as even some moderately priced aftermarket systems. I will be replacing the door speakers and rear 6x9s, and adding my 1998 Pioneer 4 channel amp bridged to two channel for the rear 6X9s, and my 1999 Alpine as a 4 channel for the front door 6x9s and tweeters. Plain and simple: I want to eliminate the center channel if it has one, eliminate the side rear speakers, and make the rear 6x9s in the rear deck full frequency with ZERO bass roll off as you turn the volume up.
What processors/converters do I need to make this happen? |

Sadly they went to encrypted avb for 2019+. Last I knew, there wasn't a good module that just interfaces like the most50 modules for 2016-18. You will have to resort to processing.
I ended up using an Audio Control DM-608. It's ok. It takes signals from the dash and front door and sums those into a stereo full range I use to drive a 4 channel powering dash and door and a monoblock powering my 2 subs. I used this t-harness to tap into my factory wiring without hacking up the car too much. The wiring colors and labels were really wrong but I figured it out. I relocated the bose amp off to the left and mounted the new stuff to a board in the well. In general, it sounds pretty good but the factory system has lots of volume dependent compression processing that summing can't easily account for. |

To answer your question, yes, it is a full t-harness to do as you suggest however, definitely buy that navtv... I'm going to look into it myself now. That wasn't available a year ago. Worth the cash for sure.

At least one advantage to the new NAV unit for the 2019-2020...you remove the bose amp..2016-2018 have to leave amp connected

Very good! I browsed through some of the older threads here on the 2016-17 systems and the spaghetti mess of wiring on some of those installs was horrifying lol..... By the looks of things this new NAV unit could almost make things TOO easy!

When i did my system, i made my own harness off the bose speakers then fed those in to a Rockford 3 Sixty3 processor to sum up, clean up and EQ the signal. I switched over to the Nav unit last year and fed my RF 3Sixty3 direct with a nice clean flat signal. WHile the old way didnt sound bad, the new NAV connection to amps is much better and consistent..
Hardest part was access the radio module connections behind glove compartment to connect it...the new one for 2019 and beyond besides being able to remove the bose amp, the newer unti looks way easier to install..it just plugs in to the 2 plugs that go in to Bose amp

Yeah that's what it looks like. After reading the whole information and data page it looks like you simply remove the Bose factory amp, connect the factory harnesses to the Nav with it's supplied harness, and connect that directly to your aftermarket power amps and battery. With everything including the battery in the trunk this might be the easiest stereo upgrade and install ever. Someone's a genius lol |

I picked up a zen-avb. I was never pleased with the quality of sound from the dm-608 summing with eq reconstruction. Too many compressors and rolloffs. I kept the 608 for my active crossover front stage and EQ choices.
Difference is night and day. Highly recommend the upgrade. |

Anyone have any idea as to why my Zen avb gm will not produce sound when connected to a dsp via optical digital output. Had to choose analog option on the dsp and a few days later a buzzing hissing floor noise develops that starts everytime I open the car door.

I haven't been driving ATM but I have been suspicious of the optical.
Several times while tweaking and putting the car back together etc. The stuff all comes to life but no audio passes. Unplugging/replugging the optical causes the audio to start immediately. I haven't done any troubleshooting to determine if it is my DSP or the Zen. The last few times I have gone out there to see how it is doing, it has worked fine. What DSP do you have? I have the AudioControl DM-608. |

Oh ok, very interesting. I have the Hertz8. don't know a lot about installs I have a proffessional do it for me but yeah the audio would shut off on Optical. The sound from speakers have been showed to specialists abroad and nobody can figure it out. I have some hope that if optical begins to work the hissing will go away
