Picture uploading issue

Every time I try to upload a picture it gives me an error. I realize the picture size is too big but doesn't forum resize it by itself?
Do I really have to resize a pic every time I want to upload one? Thanks

This is an ancient forum engine, it doesn't do automatic image resizing, unfortunately.

I use Ubuntu Linux and installed nautilus-image-converter that gives me right-click resizing and rotation features in the file manager. There are tons of similar options on Windows, too. Yeah, it would be nice if the forum did it on its own, but that is probably not going to happen.

You can also upload pictures to Imgur and similar hosting sites then just copy/paste the URL back here, or any other forum you want. This would bypass the file size limit here because this site isn't hosting the image so you can show very high resolution pictures.

I've uploaded pics as attachments from my Mac without issue.
