By any chance, did you get any data of lateral loading?

Back on SC3's after cording my RT660's. Way more rear traction. Had some understeer initially, but tuned it out with tire pressure. Ended up coincidentally at Randy Pobst's settings for the car, 28F/29R hot. Might add a psi or 2 at each end to keep from scrubbing off the Wingfoot markers.
Not sure what is going on with my hand positioning. I hadn't driven the car for a month and I guess I kept thinking I would need to go hand over hand to get enough lock. But there were a bunch of turns where I could have stayed at 9 and 3, and didn't. Gonna drive it more to rebuild better habits.
Anyways here are the vids. Times were great. Won FS by 4 sec. Was raw timing AS, SS, CAM-S, CP, etc. Don't let anybody tell you SC3 is not competitive with the Super 200's for Autocross. Hell of a tire.

Edit: Ended up 2nd PAX both days. Monty Pack beat me in his SS GT3.

Nice job on the SC3s! I expect you will kill the outside edge of your front tires much sooner than the rest of the tread if you run many events like that though.

Would you mind sharing what the ambient temperature was and how long you had between runs? I guess the sun probably helped warm the pavement above ambient temperature too. If they were new tires I guess tread squirm probably helped them warm up faster too.

I did an autocross practice event on SS 1LE SC3s on stock wheels with very little tread remaining when it was around 50°F outside and cloudy and the tires were extremely difficult to get warm even after driving aggressively on public roads near the site to try to warm them up. I had a local expert drive my car for a few runs on the course too and he agreed. I finally got them warm at the end when everyone was packing up and I got 3 runs with only about 2 minutes of waiting between each run.

SC3 in OEM sizes are probably a harder compound vs other sizes as GM says they are specific to the SS 1LE and ZL1. I've seen 19" SC3s heat up faster vs OEM 20" sizes.

My results with OEM SC3s follow the weather. You can't easily get them hot enough. On track they work well on very hot days and don't fall off much after 20 min.

I've been considering buying SC3s in ZL1 1LE sizes and using them for both AX and track, but a friend has some 18s he'd sell me and then I could run 295/35/18 RE71RS, which would be faster for AX for sure but I just don't need another set of wheels.

I've ran Falken RT660s since last year in 315/305/30/19 staggered setup and I like them a lot new but they fall off hard when half worn. I was just at Lincoln for MidDivs with 2/3rds worn RT660s and they simply never "turned on", my 1st runs were the best and even though they heated up after the 1st runs they just got a lot slower, which is the opposite of how they behave when new. I was pretty unhappy with that and don't want to buy more RT660s. I can't afford to spend the cash on tires that heat cycle out so quickly.

@cdrptrks

Thanks! Last set of SC3 wore out pretty evenly across the tire (became slicks), so hoping for the same on this set. It was a hot day both days, close to 100 later in the afternoon. Probably about 80 for the Round 9 video and 95 for the Round 10 video. My dad and I share the car, so 10-15 minutes between runs.

Here's a view of the outside shoulder of when my Falkens were finished. There were several patches like this. I felt like they were still fast right up until they fell apart, but my improvement going to SC3 showed otherwise. Not buying the Falkens again.

Ran at MBR yesterday on a very fast course. Hit 60mph multiple times, went through the finish at over 70!

Signed up for my first ever autocross at the end of next month in St. Charles, MO. It's at the Family Arena which has a massive parking lot which should make it a lot easier to navigate cones since they won't be on top of eachother. I've been told accelerate to 2nd gear and just leave it there. Planned on track mode with TC on because I'm a noob. 2020 1SS 1LE.

Hey there! Is this the Boeing event on 9/24? If so, I'll see you there. I'll be in the Satin Steel Metallic 2020 SS 1LE. Come say hello and ask to ride through with me if you aren't working the course when I'm driving.

Yes, stay in 2nd gear for the whole thing for sure. I would recommend Track Mode but go into PTM "Race" setting as long as it's a dry day to start with. Eventually you'll want to turn all the nannies off for autocross use, but PTM race is reasonable to start out. Are you going to be on stock Goodyear SC3 tires?

I'm doing the Misfit Toys one on the 23rd dangit. I haven't even dove off into the PTM settings on this yet, suppose I should probably figure that out.

Here was my best run from the first event on the new Nankangs-

https://youtu.be/QvKsV9aWSq8

They don't like to be cold and seem to thrive in the heat. I set top PAX in the morning when it was ~85deg, and went even faster in the afternoon when it was 102deg.

I'm running 325/30-19 on 19x12 square. The tire would probably be happier on a 12.5", but it would be tough to fit in front. These run big for their size.

They obviously work well on asphalt, really curious to see what they do on the Lincoln concrete.

Nice big lot you have to race on. I agree on the kangs. In cooler temps they don’t warm up as fast but are still fast. 75 degrees on up they are great and third or fourth lap is fastest. No matter what 35/36 psi is best. Lower no good and 36/37 on up get slippery a bit. In 100 degrees my best runs were second and third, fourth was to hot and temp gun was 150 degrees.
I run 305/30/19s on my old 10.75” wheels and I feel the wheels could be wider. Would help the lazier turn in vs R660s with my stiffer hotchkiss front bar
