91 octane is considered premium. Some stations around here have 91, others have 93 but both are premium gasoline.

I've always used 87 in my Trailblazer with no issues. I've never owned a sports car so I'm ignorant to the octane facts. Will 91,92 octane make that much of a difference in performance compared to 87 octane? I also realize that this is a $40K car and don't want to ruin it by putting cheaper gas. Any advice?

NEVER run E85 in a car not made for it. It'll get expensive real quick. E85 is CORROSIVE to non-E85 cars. |

I don't believe he is referring to E85. A lot of places now require sometimes upwards of 10% Ethanol in regular gasoline.

This actually depends on your location relative to sea-level. In most of the continental USA the lowest is 87. In mountainous regions I've seen as low as 85.
Of course the V8 requires premium, GM uses 91 octane as the standard. |

If you have 93 in your area, use 93, If 91, use 91. A brief reason 91 is only available in CA, CO, AZ..etc is because of the altitude. The lower the pressure, the lower octane is required.
NO! using 93 in an engine that calls for 87 will do absolutely nothing. In fact, it may, over time, harm your engine.
