I still think it will be some kind of tuned LT-1 with performance heads and some other goodies. The car will get some weight reduction, perhaps in the form of composite body panels. The 1LE is already so good a Z28 is going to have to be really special.

Can't believe they are going dohc before cam within a cam in the gen v. Not sure gm would be my first choice for a dohc

Why not?

It's not the first time GM's done it.

If it's DOHC that makes the engine taller, so it might not fit. The article at street muscle also said the motor is exclusive to the Corvette. The original ZR1 was a very expensive car, so this motor might result in an insanely high price Camaro. Short answer, I don't think the Z28 will get this 4 cam wonder.

Yeah, GM's only sold what, like 100 million DOHC engines over the past couple decades. What do they possibly know about putting cams on top of the engine.

Current gen v allows them to differentiate from the market. The power characteristic is like nothing else out there...in the trucks and cars. Pushrod keeps price down, oil temps down, along with packaging size, weight, and center of gravity...beat to death here but still unique to the market.
Nothing to do with know-how or whatever you're saying tho

Let's see if they can maybe offer something special and innovative with Dohc. Isn't that what ford had to do with the voodoo?

Doesn't seem to keep the price down too much. An LT1 crate engine goes for $9,400, a 5.0 Coyote goes for $7,000. Maybe, due to smog regulations, DOHC engines are making more sense.

Many variables...DOHC or otherwise. Real big one is that the LT1 is direct injected...

Does a long block come with injectors?

It (LT1) also combines advanced technologies including direct injection, Active Fuel Management (cylinder deactivation) and continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system.

...It (LT1) retains the operation of all the advanced technology features.
