I don’t think the COPO is street legal so that’s what I tell myself to make me feel better about blowing 6 figures into an SS.

Boost should go down if the engine is more efficient at moving air. So those improvements plus the increase in displacement should definitely result in the boost number going down. I’m sure the Eddie is way outside of its peak compressor map efficiency at 21# but will likely be much happier at say 17-18#.

The short block is complete two days after I paid them. Obviously the parts were in stock. I still have to get my heads to them so they can freshen and install them on the block

Nice! You'll be good to go come spring! Took a year to get mine built, installed and tuned!

Great choice, I'm a fan of the smaller cubes with any boosted application. A great example is the Copo 350 is a destroked 376 Ls3 to fit the class requirements for NHRA and NMCA, with the Magnuson Hot Rod Jackshaft 2650 it makes close to 1500 crank hp. Big inch motors are more suited for NA applications in my opinion. It's nice to know they weren't just bullshitting on the build to get your money and then tell you later they made a mistake and the parts weren't in stock, that shows they are honest brokers and appreciate your business and not just your money.

So far, LME is as impressive as any vendor I've dealt with. As is KaTech, who would have had this sale had they had the parts in stock.

Should I have Kong check the blower bearings now (it's got 4-5k miles) since the engine will be apart for a few weeks? I put a smaller 2.625 upper pulley on it and lowered my shift points to 64-6500 four or five months ago, and it's a beast down low. I don't think I've been unusually hard on it.

I wish I could second your glowing endorsement of LME. I know that they have a stellar reputation, but I'm genuinely disappointed in how they treated me when one of the CID heads I purchased from them developed a coolant leak due to a casting flaw. I installed the heads and was breaking in a new motor when I noticed steam coming from the exhaust. I pulled the head and had it pressure checked. The coolant leak was caused by a casting flaw that didn't show up until a couple of heat cycles.
I returned the head to LME. They assembled a replacement head and returned it to me within a few days. I respectfully requested reimbursement for the pressure check, parts and consumables needed to r&r the head. I submitted an itemized list of parts and consumables that totaled around $350 or so, if memory serves. Nothing but crickets from LME.
It's not the money that upset me, it's the principle of the thing. I do all of my own labor, however, if I was paying a shop to pull the blower, replace the head, and reassemble everything I really woild have been pissed. I don't think that asking for help with the parts and consumables was at all out of line.

Don’t blame you for being pissed about that..! The whole friggin reason you buy aftermarket heads instead of ported stockers is so that you have a stronger casting that’s not supposed to have core shift…

I’m glad I haven’t had any issues with my Mast Black Label heads (knocking on wood lol). Their customer service is virtually nonexistent… :(

I don't see a warranty on my order but it seems like he told me 30 days. Have they raised the warranty as an issue?

My Hennessey build had a two-year warranty. When a potential issue arose early on, they shipped it back to Houston on their nickel.

They warranted the head, and in a very expeditious manner. They just didn't reimburse me for the additional parts or labor, which I don't think was an unreasonable request, especially since I only asked for parts.

I'm sending the blower back to Kong for freshening, LME is waiting on my heads so they can freshen them, build a long block and send back to me, and I'm thinking about sending my transmission to Tim King for rebuild. Has anyone had any experience with Tim King here?

PS: I just got this surprising message about TK.

"Over the past 2 years I have never heard anything good from them.

PM me with what you know or have heard about TK or other shops.

I messaged him about spec'ing a converter, hoping to establish a relationship and potentially have him build my trans. He initially said, "sure" I sent him info and never heard back from him. I ended up just buying direct from Circle D. Pure drivetrain solutions is probably the closest to you with the best reputation or Manuel Gomez at Midnight.
