ZL1 without PDR?

Hi Forum!
I found ZL1 on autotrader (hopefully available) without Premium Infotainment and PDR which I really wanted... But now, waiting almost half a year for allocation I am trying to think if those two are really that important to me...

Premium Infotainment - doesn't just add navigation, and the soundsystem is the same? Can somebody confirm? If yes then I can skip that... No need for navigation, but I really care about sound.

PDR - I saw presentation on that - can draw charts with steering angle, pedal position etc, so its nice. But this is going to be my daily first, track toy second. I am starting to doubt if I really need it...

Your opinions? Shall I #settle?

I have both PDR and Nav on my 18 ZL1. I dont track the car, other than the occasional 1/4 mile event. The Nav sucks, I use Android Auto if I want to map something. I would be fine with neither, but that's just my $0.02... I can t wait until it warms up enough to get it back out!

Didn't think it came w/o one.

As an aside, my Chevy dealer knew nothing about the PDR, type/size of the card, or anything else.

The PDR collects data way beyond the few metrics displayed in the car, it provides a wealth of extremely detailed information that you will likely want if you're serious about tracking the ZL1.

No on nav. Worthless and useless. PDR is cool as a pseudo dash cam and you can use it at the track. You can use an SD card up to 128gb. Just format it as exFAt.

Google maps or Waze are infinitely better than the NAV option. PDR is fun until you forget to stop the recording in the interface. If you don't do that before turning off the car, it doesn't close out the video and the file is useless (unless there's a way to set it to auto stop recording if the car is shut off that I'm not aware of). Other than that, a fun add-on and wanna use it on one of the Tail of the Dragon trips. It was one of my must-haves when I was Z shopping.

I know, but how much I will use it for sporadic track events? Will I ever get good enough to NEED this data?

The "premium" infotainment just adds navigation. The sound system is the exact same as the non premium infotainment system.

The PDR is an option that is very debatable. I use mine on and off the track. It's ok as a dash cam. Giving you speed, throttle and brake inputs.

The 720p resolution is subpar but still gives you the piece and mind that you can use it in case of an accident.

The other data that can be collected from it are for those that are looking to improve their track times. That's not me. I'm out there to drive and have fun. If I ever consider trying to find that extra .001 of a second, then I'll dig into that extra data.

PDR has always been an option. The 1LE package doesn't add it. It's an option for that option.

It does get rid of the front collision alert, which I hear is quite annoying.

To me PDR is a must have option. I used it all the time, it became habit to enable. Lots of good memories with the go pedal and clover ramps. I would set it in valet mode at the dealer too.

As far as I remember, you need an expensive third party ODBC scanner to grab the useful parts of that logging. The PDR with just a SD card only grabs video and the pre-rendered overlay graphics. You can't load it into software to see at time 0:0x what the throttle position was and see it on a time graph.

At that point you're better off just buying Garmin Catalyst and using that for track day datalogging. On top of that, the PDR is garbage as a dashcam as 720p is just too low resolution for any useful recording so you'll be looking for an aftermarket dash cam too.

Realistically, how often do you think you will be going to the track?

I bought Charger 392 in the middle of 2018, thinking to do some tracking events... Been... 0 times. ZL1 will make me more motivated.
