$20 DIY Laguna Pipes
I just made some laguna pipes using 2.5" 90 degree elbow from orielly's without any welding. I might try and rivet the brackets onto the pipe just for redundancy but so far the hose clamps are holding them on tight and I can't rotate them even when I step on it. I cut some 1" slits at the end of the pipe and hammered it to a smaller diameter so it fits into the stepdown in the exhaust where the valve is located.
I also just installed a Racetech RT4009 on the drivers side only. Going to be figuring out a airbag bypass solution that doesn't require extracting the harness from the stock seat. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b...st+elbow&pos=4 |

Ooh, nice idea! Is that just some scrap pieces of aluminum for the brackets? Did you consider other elbows that have a smooth wall vs. the corrugated? Not that it would make that much difference...
EDIT: Maybe this one... much more expensive though. https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b.../4787322?pos=0

Yup I just cut some aluminum and bent it for the brackets. Mandrel bent tubing will be a nicer looking option but this far back in the exhaust the flow difference shouldn't have any impact vs. wrinkle bent. It's worth noting that the pipe I got is fairly heavy so it might be worth getting some thinner gauge stainless steel. I just went the cheap way to test it out.

Any concern about heat making the clamps expand and then becoming loose enough to fall off?

That is a concern, ill be keeping it on the car this week and run it through some heat cycles to see if anything loosens up. I could also swap out the hose clamp around the exhaust tip for a exhaust clamp.

I suppose the exhaust tip would probably be hotter and expand more than the clamp though, so maybe not an issue? Will be good to see how your heat cycles play out... wonder how much different the temps would be on track.

Also, in track mode, does 100% of the exhaust go through the outside tips? I’ve seen laguna pipes on all four tips as well which is why I ask. I suppose it’s at least not as loud through those pipes since they are fed from the muffler?

On track it will definitely be hotter than anything I can manage on the street. I did do a spirited run with as many consistent WOT pulls as possible to get it toasty. Ill keep trying this throughout the week before my laguna seca day next Sunday and see how the clamps manage.
Yes the exhaust flows nearly 100% to the outer pipes. Technically some exhaust can still go out the inner two but if you take a look at the NPP cutout pictures you'll see that its heavily restricted since that's the section that has to go through the muffler. |

Glad to see this works. I was going to pretty much do the same if I ever need Lagunas

I'm actually trying to keep all the stock parts just in case I need to revert back.

I'll lease it to you if you pay the monthly on a new gt4 for me haha. But honestly I recommend looking into a bucket seat if you track your car regularly. In my opinion the racetechs are comfier than the stock recaros and fit me better overall. The only real downside is losing the power/heated/cooling amenities and its a pain to get into in tight spaces. Other than that its been my most favorite mod thus far.
