hm, since there is no automatic a loaded 2SS with wider wheels, bigger brakes and that nice Hennessey 600hp tune would be my choice for autobahn ;-)

I did the same thing with my 99 SS, except I had gutted cats and a cutout just aft of them. I only buttoned the cap up occasionally, but I made sure my my system could drown out the exhaust open when I wanted it too.

I hear ya, but I don't understand this comment. If you are a familiar track day participant you know how much a weekend costs, and if you are buying this car to track certainly you have the pockets to afford the extra couple grand for the advantages this package is offering. A real track guy that is going to utilize this car is not phased by a couple g's, that's one GOOD weekend at the track.

For us that may track once or twice a year, we want open ordering to build the car the way we want, pretty simple.

So Manual V8SS gas mileage is 19/25. Do you expect this will be 18/24? Will there be GG tax on it?

Look at all the affordable car companies, they do the same and some actually have no options at all outside of the packages.
I've never bitched about pricing.........so you can remove me from that statement.

I was a bit surprised at first as well, that this isn't available on a 2SS, but then you read that certain bits (and more) that are only available on the 2SS, are standard on the 1LE.

Now I feel differently.

I'm sorry to ruffle some feathers, but guys upset that the 1LE isn't getting disco lighting, and things like that really don't need a 1LE. I'd put money down that 75% of the people that want or buy a 1LE won't use it much or at all for its intended purpose.

The 1LE is FAR from "stripper" status. Z/28...that baby was a stripper.

No way we are getting this package for the same $3,500 as the 5th gen. Look at what you get:

Recaros front (suede/leather)
Leather rear
HUD
Performance data recorder
forged lightweight wheels
sticky wider tires
NPP exhaust
Upgraded brakes front and back
MRC suspension (revised)
More downforce pieces added to the car
Better cooling than standard SS (not sure on this one)
E-differential
....I'm sure I'm missing something

If you could even add all of that to a standard SS, you'd be looking at 10 to 12 thousand dollars!!! (the LPO items adding the big chunk of cost of course) It would be a good value at 5 - 7 grand more.

So I think we'll see this come in right around 42 - 45 grand. I also believe this will be a base GT350 beater, and competitive with the 350TP, although the Camaro is still down on top end power which will hurt the Camaro on certain tracks over others.

Just want to make a comment on the 1LE V6....I don't see it selling well, but I have always wanted them to do a V6 1LE. I think it will be an amazingly fun car to drive. Heck, I even considered getting a V6 1LE over an SS way back before the Camaro was revealed.

Wonder why they didn't just make it a model this time around considering all the changes? Anyways, hell of a job GM.
I agree Great Job! What else would anyone wanting a factory track toy add??? What would you add to make it a Z/28?

Not everyone who wants to track the car has super deep pockets. An extra 2g's is a couple sets of tires. I'm not saying the car is a bad deal at 45. Just saying a 1ss 1le going from 37k to 45k stings a little.

Here is what everyone is forgetting. This car is a 1SS but has many of the options as a 2SS as KMPrenger pointed out. This car is very well equipped for being a track oriented car. I mean look at the GT350. Look what severe lack of options you get there.
