New To Forum not to Camaros I'd like to say hi
I'm new to this forum and have already found it super useful and am soaking myself in the great stories, mods, and all other cool things I've discovered already. I hope I'm welcomed to the family : )
I'm 50 years old and have to say I'm 17 again !. When I was 17 in about 1984, I had purchased a 1973 Camaro (Sold about 1990). I dumped 5years of labor, parts and money into it and loved every minute. I painted it Red, put in a brand new RHS motor about 350HP, and a new interior. along with an original GM 1981 Camaro air-induction hood..... which by the way looks very similar from inside the new one looking out at it. My mom, at the time, nagged me every day saying I was Obsessed with my car and she was right. .... so right ... that I painted a name on the back "OBSESSION" just to rub it in a little. Ever since the day I sold it, I wished I had it back. I lost my license from that car with waaaaay to many speeding tickets, cops chasing me home, and really cool stories. My girlfriend (wife now) loved it just as as me. So .... 33 years later (kids grown up, bills up to date, not a great need for the SUV anymore) ... I get a used 2012 2SS and I'm in love again. I have to tell you all, that I can't describe the feeling I have in words. It's just that ... a great feeling every time I get in it again. I'm a total kid again, Wendy and I are speeding around with it all the time, and I just love it! I hope that all of you appreciate your Camaro's as much as I do. It is such a wonderful car and the technology difference from 1973 is incredible. I'm loving the way this drives and handles. I remember hitting about 140PMH with the old one hoping it would hold together ... now ... smooth as silk !! I already put a Borla catback S-Type on it and it sounds great. Also, in the pics below you will see that I saved one of the original fender emblems from my 73 all these years and mounted it on the dash in the new one. Old meets new ! ... I found that to be so cool for me. I just love having in there : ) Oh ... and just to rub it in a little more to my mom ... I got lettering for this one too. "Still obseSSed" mounted on the hood scoop. LOL .. My mom just loves me .... even still ; ) So glad I'm part of this crowd again. Oh and 33 years ago ... if you had to take something apart it was all trial and error ... now it's simply youtube. You younger folks are lucky !! I hope you enjoy the little story : ) Mike ..... |

Welcome aboard. Many happy miles! Ain't it neat how 5th Gens have the squircle double tail lights similar to your 73?
