Recalibration of MRC Ride Height-Dealer says Chevy doesn't know anything about it

Is it called something else?
I guess I should try another dealer?

Thanks for the advice,
Brian

Should be known to the dealer - the 1500 Denali owners require this for any suspension height changes as well.

Sounds like a lazy service department.

It took them 2 hours before telling me they could not get my 3/4" lowered car on their alignment rack and that Chevy HQ does not know anything about adjusting MRC Ride Height!

Maybe I am petty but I have been given the wrong information from many dealers. I mean from different makes also so after I get a solution I go back and act like I'm being helpful. I make sure that I am repetitive and act as if I am just trying to be helpful.

This is why dealers and owners alike get confused.

It's not a warranty or repair issue. It's a performance parts upgrade with installation bundled into the cost. That's why some people are getting turned away when their cars are out of warranty, or some dealers are saying the car already has the latest software. They're treating it as a warranty repair.

It is not a warranty repair. It is not service. It is installation of aftermarket performance "parts".

Need to see a Chevy performance Dealer, I believe its about $350.00

It is called a level adjustment or trim adjustment. (Something like that)

There are actually two things the dealer can do to the MRC (I think)....one is an update of some sort and the other is this level adjustment.

From what I've been reading, due to how MRC functions, if the vehicle height changes, this height/level/trim has to be reset. I believe this is a sensor/software setting that a competent GM tech can perform in less than an hour. I am not sure what or how the height/level sensor functions so I don't fully understand to accurately describe what changes are made.

Vehicle height changes not only come from the lowering, but from tire/wheel dimension changes also.

The terminology "calibration" or "re-calibration" may not be what is done but is used frequently as a common misnomer.

There are some good articles on the web about MRC functionality and it is a really simple design.

If some GM tech could chime in I'd like to know more about it, especially the type of sensors and feedback.

My MRC ride is a little "looser" now and when I bring it in for service, I will have them make this adjustment. It is Hendricks so I believe they will know what is needed.

There are no "parts" included with MRC re-calibration. It's a simple relearn for the new sensor positions due to ride height changes.

Agreed it isn't a warranty issue, unless it malfunctions at stock ride height.

Spring rates, ride height affect MRC, but wheel and tire changes actually don't. Yes the wheel/tire combo may change overall ride height, but the suspension geometry doesn't change and the MRC sensor position remains the same even with a wheel/tire change.

doesn't smaller diameter tires affect "ride height"? Total drop on mine is 1.25" up front, and 1.5" in the back with the springs/rims/tires I have now.

"spring rates" is why I selected BMR springs which are not variable.

Do you know what type of sensors are used?

You read my post incorrectly. It changes ride height, but NOT suspension geometry or the position of the MRC sensors.

Wheel/tire changes do not change MRC sensor positions as the geometry isn't affected.

oooh....I see...That's the sensor? It looks like a variable position sensor....

May be as simple as resistance readings then....ok.

So they re-zero it at the new position so to say.....

Thanks!
