Vvivid vinyl hood wrap

Opinions. Yay or nay. Was applied for paint protection through a Canadian winter. It was really easy to put on. A second pair of hands helps.

At first, when I saw this wrap, I was totally sold and wanted to wrap the whole car using this color. I love the effect and all. I went to Vvivid shops (luckily they are like 5 minutes from where I work) and ordered a sample to see how it applies and how it looks like in person (my father and I have played with different vinyl and we wanted to test it out).

I was really disappointed when I put it on. The amount of orange peel is crazy. I know GM's paint is not the best in the industry, but the vinyl doesn't reflect the car quality. Also, it is very thick and is harder than other vinyls to apply. Doesn't stretch as much as I would have liked. Avery wrap, although a little more expensive, is easier to apply. I ended up forgetting my idea to wrap the car.

On yours, it looks ok. If it was me, I would have used a black, because now it looks like you used a good with the paint that did not match! But if it is just for the winter as a protection, then I guess it is ok.

I've noticed that Vivvid has a bunch of orange peel in their wraps. Avery wasnt so bad. I had a sample of the gloss Red Black iridescent and surprisingly it came out pretty nice as a stripe. Vivvids satin black was orange peel city, which is suprising being it was satin and i cut and buffed most of the factory orange peel out prior to install.

I have a similar thought as you. I dont hate or love it. When laid on the car it has peel for sure. In the sun its alright but when overcast it has a dirty purple look. Friends says its awsome but it's my car so they won't sway me either way. I just didn't want plain gloss black as that seems too status quo for me. (I do think it would look fine and its probably the best match for tintcoat).

Looking past gloss black. Any suggestions are appreciated. It will be changed this spring/summer as it is damaged from highway commuting.

I like it.

I play around with different color vinyl on my car. It's fun, easy and inexpensive.

My father got the grey matte metallic for his motorcycle. Really nice color.

My only complaint as a wrapper with ViVid is their orange peel and residue when peeling. For this reason that's why I usually only use 3M and Avery material. It's a good look, I like it, but I would seriously consider options if you do the entire car. It'll look good until you peel it and spend the next week straight dealing with residue. Good luck! keep us posted with what you end up doing
