Phaser Limiter Vs Lockout?

Just out of curiosity - is installing a "lockout" the same as installing a "limiter"? I look at the parts for the lockout and it looks like you insert a setscrew in the middle of the block to wedge the block from moving? I can't find any instructions on the lockout itself.

That being said, when would one want to lockout vs use a limiter?

My lockout it a block that fills the chamber vs my 20 degree one before. With stock valve reliefs any phasing with long duration high lift cams will cause the valve to hit the piston. With aftermarket deep relief pistons this is slightly less of a worry.

my Lock our kit was a limiter kit with an extra wedge that resulted in a complete lock out.

I was told after I got the parts that if your doing a lock out you can just get a cam and sprocket that eliminates all those parts.

Yea - the part being left out is that you need to spend another $700 for the special cam and the billet alum cover from Katech that lets you run the LS gear on the LT cam

Just use the 0 degree lock out wedge on the stock cam phaser and save 700.00. it's what Brett uses on all his builds.

He just finished up a NA stage 2 H/C A10 car that put down 619whp.

The cover is $500, but the price for the "VVT Delete" cam goes up $175 also (for the same spec cam)

I would like to run this setup, but can't justify it at this point

I didn’t know you needed a $500 cover. Ouch.

Need it for two reasons - first to control the axial thrust on the cam with the LS gear on it (since it does not have the whole phaser setup on it - it is substantially thinner) and the second is that they have to move the cam sensor over to the location where it is on the LS engine as the reluctor setup on the LT is different vs LS

I'm new to this stuff...I called cam motion...they said the tool is needed to install the lockout block. So I bought it.

Yeah I think if you are having a shop install, they can do it without tool or have the tool, so probably can save a few buck just buying the block.
