Can't Log AEM 30-0334 X-Series OBDII Wideband !
Help!
I'm using the AEM 30-0334 X-Series OBDII Wideband (gauge, sensor, and OBDII pass-thru connector). But I can't add AEM's WB channel (WB EQ Ratio 1 SAE) to my HPT channel list to scan and log WB data. The scanner greys-out the WB channel description (WB EQ Ratio 1 SAE) then removes it on engine startup. I have attached an image on the right below of what I see when I click the gear with green + sign in the channel section heading and go to "Add channel." Guys on the HPT forum today say that I shouldn't use any channels under External Inputs and point me instead to the OBD controller channels shown below in light blue on the left that my scanner doesn't have. I understand this stuff is fairly common. Anyone solved this issue? Thanks

Two thoughts here and suggestions:
1) You can repoll to see if it populates 2) Read here for past problems https://forum.hptuners.com/showthrea...960#post625960

Are you also adding the PID for the gauge itself?

This video explains it as simple as it can be. The only thing that isn't mentioned in the video is the car needs to be in SERVICE mode while performing the setup. Also, make sure the wideband itself is ON, past the "heat up" phase, and showing numbers before you attempt to connect and repoll parameters or else Hpt will not read it...and will remain grayed out in the channel list. If this doesn't work, then you have other issues.

First of all, what is PID? I assume it's an informal abbrev for something.
I don't see a channel that looks like your image.

The confusion is what mode to have the car in. You need to longpress the start button for 5 seconds so everything powers on without starting. I said accessory mode but if it's actually called Service mode that's where it needs to be.

1. Delete contents of folder, HP Tuners\VCM Scanner\Vehicles 2. Download current HPT Suite (or Beta) and MVPI drivers, 3. Connect the laptop to OBDII, 4. Put the car in service mode, 5. Wait 20 sec. for WB to power/warm up, 6. Select mode "obd2" on the AEM gauge, 7. Close Editor and open Scanner. 8. Click "connect to vehicle" in scanner, 9. Repoll vehicle parameters, 10. Click gear icon with green + "add channel" 11. [add new channel] dbl click "WB EQ Ratio 1 SAE " under OBD2 [I don't remember the entire tree]. Do not click any External Inputs. 12. Click "Start Scan", the WB channel should remain in list and display active scan data. 13. Push ignition button to exit service mode. 14. Start engine, start scan, and the WB channel should display active scan data. So, at least for today, it's working. Thanks everyone.

PID is "Process ID" afaik. Its an identifier for the type of data it is sending on that channel.

I'm still not sure about PID, nor am I 100% sure which of the steps I listed solved my WB problem, but if I had to guess, I would say selecting obd2 mode in the AEM gauge.

I don't understand how selecting obd2 mode would suddenly make it work when it was working before unless you accidently changed it.
You likely were not waiting long enough for the wideband to turn on and get past the heat up phase before attempting to connect to it. PID's are the technical term for the channels you log(ie: Map, MAF, RPM, IAT...etc)

I always allowed plenty of time in service mode for sensor warmup. Should I rewire it so it turns on in Accessories too?
