I just did my whipple about a month ago and do not have that noise at all, I know a few others mentions a similar noise and had a video to back it up. I’d reach out to be safe.

Says in the manual "medium pitched rattle sound from the case is normal". My exhaust valves are closed in the video but it seems a little excessive. I'll call Whipple Monday.

That sounds horrible!!! I certainly wouldn't think that was normal, nor acceptable, if that were my ride!!

I wonder if the idle needs raised a touch. It quiets down with just a little increase in rpm.

My maggie does not rattle at all but your car does sound like it's idling a fair amount lower than mine. My buddy just installed a whipple on his '16 Silverado 5.3. His does not rattle either. I'm betting you will be good to go with a slight idle rpm bump.

Yeah that is exactly what I think the issue is. The car is idiling to low. If I raise the rpm it goes away. It's idiling around 500rpm which is causing the bump back -n- fourth sound in the gear case.

My Whipple has a noise as well. I contacted Whipple when I first installed it and sent them a clip of the noise. They told me that as long as it goes away when the rpms increase then it is normal gear noise and is not an issue. They also said it would quiten up with more miles on it. I have 5,000ish miles on it since install, I can still hear it, but it has gotten quieter.

Same as steelheadrob. But probably still worth a call to them if you find it concerning. Although it is truly hard to compare your video to my own car, but yours does sounds excessively loud.

Well I found the issue. Whipple didn't press the tensioner bearing in the pulley all the way. This was causing the pulley to rub the tensioner arm. There is still a little noise coming from the Whipple buts it's nothing like it was. You can't hear it with the hood closed...and with it open you can actually hear the whistle and direct injection ticking now. Lol

Oh damn!!!! Well i am really glad you found your problem, that would drive me nuts feeling like something wasn't right. Hopefully Whipple overnights you a new pulley and you should be good to go!

Yeah I knew something wasn't quite right and the more I listened it sounded like a pulley amplifying the noise...kind of wierd actually. So I pulled the intake elbow and belt off, then started rotating pullies and the tensioner was just grinding metal to metal.

I am also going to put a longer belt on. The tensior is 7/8 from Max and the pulley with the slide adjuster is all the way to the left making the belt a total PIA to put on. The belt is a 816, gonna try a 820 green.

I did take it out for a spin for the first time yesterday since it was around 40 degrees and the roads were clean from a previous rain. It pulls strong from everywhere....The car drives like stock and you wouldn't be able to tell the Whipple is there if it didn't have that part throttle whine. What I like about the Whipple is how it delivers power. It has the PD low end but honestly feels more geared toward midrange and top end... It just keeps pulling harder and harder as it revs. 6500rpm is really short shifting it by how it feels...I think it needs spun to 7k but probably not a good idea with DOD lifters.

Installed a Flowmaster NPP axle back today. Huge upgrade from the stock suitcase.
