17 1SS 1LE: 1 year of ownership no depreciation (almost)

It's bittersweet but I sold my 17 1SS 1LE w/ PDR. I won't be cutting the cord completely (hopefully) and will be back in a 5th gen 1LE shortly. I bought for $35,500 with 850 miles in December 17. I sold for $35,000 with 4993 miles in December 18. $500 of depreciation in 1 year on a basically new car that I enjoyed for several weekends. Cars are a bad investment. We all know that but the 6th gen 1LE is one of the best worst investment you'll ever make. Cheers to a fugly 2019 MY that's going to make the (almost) free ride even sweeter!

That’s not bad at all. I believe some cars can depreciate as much as 20% in the first year. I hope you find the car you are looking for.

Thanks! We (seller and I) are working out the logistics to take delivery of my "new to me" 1LE next friday.

I bought and sold private party. $35,500 was before taxes/title/fees. I assumed i'd probably never see money for taxes come back to me. What i didn't expect was a 1 year old car to depreciate like 1% during year 2. I don't think my sale was a "special case" or exception. I did a lot of shopping around on Autotrader and other websites and $35,500 seemed to be the going rate private party at that time. Fast forward 1 year and the going rate is almost the same.

I had been searching for several months on a used 6th gen 1LE and mostly found them listed anywhere between the low to high 30s depending on mileage and location. In November I finally found an almost new '18 1SS 1LE in Red Hot with only 2k miles at a dealer for $34,879 before taxes, tag, title etc. There are good deals out there.

That is a really good deal. Congratulations!

I am trying to sell my 18 1SS 1le with intake/exhaust/headers/e85/catch can/tune, ceramic coating, lifetime ceramic window tint, wickerbill, deluxe rock guards, with all the stock parts for $37k. Is that a little high? Also has PDR. I know parts dont generally add value but I thought it was still worth about 38k. Car has 5400 miles

That doesn't sound high. That sounds dead on accurate. Nightfall Gray is a very desirable color for the 1LE. Especially being an 18 with PDR, I would expect at least $36,500. The only thing you added to detract the mainstream buyer is the E85/headers/tune for warranty reasons. Once the right buyer sees it though, it's sold. Just might take a little extra time for that niche market buyer to see it but I would hold tight.

For kbb, you’re probably a little high. As far as other listings you’re right on. The used car market is hot right now also, so I’d stick your guns.

I am having a hell of a time selling my Cruze, but I keep hearing this. I have it listed everywhere and barely get any bites. I have it priced right in the middle of the KBB. The dealer's trade in offer is insulting too. I guess no one wants a manual.

Check what dealers around you are charging for a comparable Cruze manual and subtract about 2K. Otherwise, people will just to dealers for convenience.

Sorry if I missed something, but why are you getting rid of a 6th gen 1LE for a 5th gen?
