If Camaro was an SUV.....

We get some pretty cool press cars coming through the office. Today I got my hands (and my right foot) on a Maserati Levante GTS.

5,000 lbs of driving excitement with an exhaust note to die for. This thing growled and gurgled on every lift foot. Every. Single. One. Powered by a 3.8L TT V8 pushing 550 ponies. Adjustable ride height and suspension and a sport mode that is grin-worthy.

Nothing instrumented (we don't do that) but my butt-dyno says this thing is a beast.

Awesome. I'm starting to change to the mindset that a V8 (and the grunt/growl to go with it) might be more fun in a vehicle that normally wouldn't have an engine like that, even if it doesn't actually have the same numbers (handling and straight line) as a sports coupe with a V8.

If GM were to build a sport crew cab Colorado or Canyon with a V8 or turbo 6, I think I'd be ready to dump my current 16 Camaro and 15 Colorado crew (my daily) right now...and that's saying something.

If GM were to do the same in a full size truck, or say, the new Blazer I might also be in trouble lol. Maybe.

I will admit that part of this is due to the fact that am married with a 4 yr old and 11 mth old daughters. Finding time to appreciate my Camaro at this time in my life is nearly impossible, but dang I love that car.

I know that Dodge/Jeep offer certain solutions on this, but a huge full size SUV with a V8 just isn't enough to make me convert right now, and I'd much rather have a truck.

Camaro is the platform. Chevy had the SS sedan. Now Chevy needs a Nomad and El Camino on the same platform.

I would buy one of each. 4 vehicles, same platform with different purposes.

But all 4 would put a smile on my face.

Too bad that Maserati looks like a Nissan Rogue.

An SUV with the proper engine and trans layout (not transverse) and a V8 is fun and desirable!?

Hello GM, yeah about the "blazer"...

And here I thought the thread would be about the looks of the new Blazer, given the title.

Oddly enough, that didn't even cross my mind until you pointed it out.
