Motul RBF 600 ?

Hi guys

Im prepping my new ZL1 and have a couple questions.

1. Is the Motul 600 brake fluid colored so you can tell its reached the caliper bleeder when fully vacuum bled.

2. How many of these 500ml bottles should I buy, 2 or 3 ? Id like to have a little left over and have with me on occasional track days.

Thanks for the help

I usually buy 3, use 1 and change for a full change and keep the 3rd for track days.

As for the color change, it is different, but depending on the milage on the current fluid, the contrast may not be stunning, using a vacuum bleeder, or forced bleeder, I draw a line on my waste fluid bottle and make sure to hit that line from all four corners, and it gives me peace of mind knowing that even if I am wasting a bit of Motul, the old fluid has been flushed.

Thank you, I was thinking maybe 3 bottles

Yeah wish it was colored like some brake fluids Ive used in my road race bikes. My car only has 300 miles on it.

Maybe I wont mess with it quite yet, do one track day, and a few more miles then changes it out. If its noticeably different I will go ahead and do it now.

ATF superblue was so nice to have. I would alternate between blue and regular to ensure I got a full flush.

It IS indeed colored, has more of a red tint to it than normal, just not "black/white" difference.

I have ATE Superblue in my Camaro right now...I had saved an un-opened bottle for this.

I used 2 and 3/4 bottles (˜1.4L) for the first flush. The full system is ˜0.9L, but you have to remember that when you are doing the first flush there will alway be some mixing of old and new fluid. And I am OCD, and really want to be certain of mostly pure Motul on the calipers.

Normally I'd go out after the flush, heat up the system, activate ABS several times, then re-bleed a little bit. That is the only way to get all the old fluid out of ABS actuators.

But since my 1st track day is so easy on brakes, I'll do that at a later as I change the pads. (I'm going to try the stock pads on the easy-on-brakes track to see how they do)

Lucky man. I got out of the car scene for a few years when ATE decided to stop selling the blue. I didn't even know I needed to stock up.

Yep from what I found, it looks like the Superblue is banned now in the US.

You sure get more for your money with the gold color fluid over Motul though.

But I do like the fact that Motul will be easier to see then bleeding.

That is what I heard also. A shame because ATE stuff is so good.

Im not going to worry about a very little left in the ABS actuators.

I ran the stock pads and fluid couple times out on the track with my 17 1LE. They worked fine in the intermediate / advanced group. But this track was also not super high speeds.

I just cant stand the mess they make on the street.

Dust bowl city ........ LOL !

I really like the Power Stop pads for overall use.
