The car sales industry as a whole has ethics problems. Not just a particular brand.
Dealer add on stickers, hidden rebates, dealer fees, alleged negotiable sales pricing,
Dealer holdbacks, list goes on and on. If you’re so honest then set a price and sell the car at that price, like most other products !!

Probably what the Boxster owner told him.

A clean 2011 Spyder with low miles in Houston will run 50-60k pretty easily. I know because I tried before the 1LE and if it can't be found in Houston then chances dwindle quickly. If you find a low mileage Spyder for that you need to buy it and flip it just like a dealer would.

Edit: To get back on track... Dealers suck. They are middle men we don't need and it's ancient laws on the books that require them. Absolutely ridiculous I can't buy a car direct from GM.

Go find a 45k one with 20k miles in excellent shape (no paint etc) and I will give you a $1000 per car.....good luck.

Long Thread! Back to original post! Always use Carmax before you go anywhere when trading in any car! They are so easy and quick to deal with. Just tell them you want to sell your car. They give you a fair written offer you can take with you to any dealer. Most new car dealers will gladly match what they offer if you buy a new car from them. But remember first step is to negotiate purchase price. Hope this helps friends!

This is the exact reason you should never buy a domestic performance car brand new, you are going to take a financial beating should you decide to sell in the near future. Please don't make the same mistake with the ZL1-1LE it will likely take an even bigger beating should you decide to sell. Best to wait 1-2 years after introduction and buy used, let somebody else take the hit.

Sell your 1LE privately and wait for the prices to drop on the ZL1 versions, they will shortly as I suspect many owners got caught up in the hype and soon realize this is not the daily driver or weekend toy they wanted.

Best of luck to you.

Excellent advice!!! Save a few manufacturers, like Porsche, most performance cars take a huge hit once driven off the lot. Buying a well maintained second hand car is a sound financial decision compared to new in almost every scenario.

Your second point is also correct, even though the reasoning has no bearing in reality. The used market as a whole is already in a downward spiral, but it has to do with the industry and not your dislike of the ZL1.

Actually it is not the dislike of the ZL1. I base it on buyers of the ZL1-1LE may not realize that they essentially purchased a track car that happens to be street legal. I suspect owners may quickly realize they may have been better off with the standard ZL1, and decide to sell, thus opening the door for the Op.
