At Jeep week in Moab, Utah every spring, yes there's 40,000 Jeeps but there is a contingent of K5 Blazer enthusiasts.
My stepbrother lives in Phoenix and has a lifted Jeep, he hits Moab every year and I have gone with him a few times. The K5 Blazer support is real. And there is plenty of aftermarket support still available for them to do serious lifting, brakes, wheels, transmission, and engine mods. |

First reaction... this is a horrible exterior design. The designers appear to be putting in way too much overtime and keep adding more lines and vents and giant plastic things that are unnecessary. In fact, this looks like it could be a Chinese rip-off of a Lexus cross-over, that's how bad it is.
GM, come up with your own designs and remember simple is better. Good luck with this, but I don't see it selling like everyone says.

Or even if you don't want to answer that...do you feel any of the small to mid size Chevy CUV / SUVs are good looking?

I couldn't care less what any SUV or CUV looks like, or what they call it....Except in this case, a soccer-mom garden variety SUV gets the same "aggressive" front end look as a V-8 Camaro....
I think the re-freshed Camaro has been watered-down and neutered in the styling department with a grocery-getter look-a-like... |

They may sell now, but they are very 'dated', and in a few years these design fads will fade as quick as they came in. No more do manufacturers aim for timeless designs... they take the easy way out and base everything on current fads. And this new Blazer is the epitome of that.

People use vehicles a lot differently these days than they did when I was a kid. That means that the vehicles available to be used have changed significantly. I remember the station wagons, ranging from a Pinto station wagon up to a Buick Estate Wagon or Caprice Classic Station Wagon (huge beasts). I remember Electra 225 with doors that required their own zip code. There is no use these days for cars that fit those physical descriptions, but there is still a need to accommodate their utility PLUS additional requirements. There will be some fad aspects to the design of these vehicles. Floating roof design, for instance. And the huge upright grills that I discussed in another post. But the idea of CUVs is here to stay for a long time. There are as people + stuff friendly as station wagons were in my childhood, but they are also fairly agile and can have a more sporting drive quality than the big station wagon “land yachts” of my youth.

I don't think anyone had posted the actual reveal press conference video yet. This was filmed by the guys at Motor1....

To each his own. I'd drive that in a second.
Those real world photos look good. I think this will be well received.

Like I said, GM is going to make a fortune off this thing.
