Boils down to what's included in the package. Many of the parts are items that I wanted to change anyway. So it's a no brainer to simply get the package.

I thought the same way. I am really excited for the delivery of my 1LE. Should be here by mid next week, I hope!

Everything I have heard about the 1LE has been positive, even the ride quality.

This. 1LE FTW.

OP Get the 1LE if a good handling car is fun to you. You will pay a very slight ride penalty. But besides the handling, you get the best looking stock wheels ever seen on a Camaro 5th Gen if you like black. And if you do not like the hood mat, you can have it removed. It does serve an antiglare purpose. I think it's kind of cool.

All that said the stock SS is a pretty good handler, but it has too much understeer.

It has not been proven that the 1LE is any faster than the standard SS at the drag strip. The gearing/transmission changes make it a wash. A well driven SS also needs to shift into 4th in the quarter, but with the 1LE this is more pronounced.

Is does seem that '13 SSes and 1LEs pull slightly harder on the dyno and may do slightly better at the track. But for all stock 5th gen LS3s up to '13 (who knows about the '14s) it is a driver race.

I have a 1LE and my dad has the ss, mine feels way faster and the ride feels just as good if not better than his. I love both of the cars, but the 1LE is just more fun, 2nd and3rd gear pull so hard I have a hard time not running through the gears. His is an auto and is fast but mine feels a lot faster, may not be but it feels like it is. Dual mode exhaust is a must.

A stock LS3 is faster than an L99 (Auto). But with the Automatic you can be way more consistent.

I just drove a friends 2SS tonight and our opinions are hands down the 1LE is better.

It does ride a little stiffer over bumps in the road, but the handling is obviously better. Anyone that tells you different did not, or has not drove the 1le. The dozen or more upgrades are hard to beat For the money. If you an afford it go for it

I think the 1LE is a great package. Better looking rims, gears/tranny are a few things. I think its a great buy.

1le is a great package...you can sell the wheels for that price if you want or have aftermarket wheels.

I thought bout getting a stock 1SS for dirt cheap, but finally went with the 1LE. Here's why;
I would have bought:
-Aftermarket wheels/tires(2000$+minus the cost of stock wheels sale+-1000$)
-Suspension(shocks and springs 1300$ min)
-Hurst shifter option(250$)
-Stripes maybe(500$+)
-Spoiler(600$)

Total=3650$, the price of the 1LE package!!

Truth is that the 1LE package is a steal!! And the wheels are the best wheels ever on a Camaro! I love the fact that it comes with the custom ratio trans/gear too! High flow fuel pump, shocks, coil, bearing, short throw shifter, half shatfs, etc!!

Then I said to myself what if I dont care about the 'handling at all' and just care about the straight line? The 1LE is faster because of the trans/gear/tires.

Finally, I remembered driving my friend's GTR. The steering response and handling were so amazing that when I got back in my stock suspension 4th gen, it really felt like S H I T!! So yes the handling is nice to have for a DD because even if youre not on a race track, you still have that great feedback from driving the car all the time...

1LE is a must, unless you are really really on a tight budget.

I don't see where an additional shift in the quarter is a desired benefit.

I almost bought the "regular" SS last year, but then heard of the new 1LE about to go into production. I am so glad I waited, as the car is faster off the line, with gears and trans. However, their are so many aspects of the 1LE, that make the driver feel very connected to the car. We like to say it drives like it's on a rail, and it does. Now, keep in mind, this does not mean the ride is rough, just more in tune to the surface. If you are like me, you would naturally avoid pot holes, or other major blemishes on the road anyway. For $3500, extra, the 1LE is more than worth the money. I believe all SS's should be made this way. You can not replicate all the componets for anywhere near the option price. So, I say,go for the 1LE, without a test drive as most of us have, with no regrets, just a huge PERMAGRIN.

I was going to get a 1LE but did not like the wrapped hood, the steering wheel and gear shifter are going to wear smooth and crack faster than the normal 2SS leather wheel and shifter. And the way I go thru tires I would be broke replacing 1LE tires since mine is a DD.

So I am putting in the 1LE rear end next week and will slowly pick up the parts I want to make my car the way I want it. I also got the GM blade spoiler and love it and could not get it for a 1LE.

I almost pulled the trigger on a Blue Ray 1LE yesterday. I'm glad I sold it to a good customer of mine before I bought it. My loan would start all over and I'm already 1and a half years into it and 10K in mods into mine. I almost committed financial suicide...AGAIN!

Right now I am leaning on getting a 1LE but I am probably going to have to order one. So would the 1LE take longer than 6-10 weeks since it is a special package?
