How is this tranny supposed to shift? I think I like it. I haven’t had much experience with autos newer than the traditional 4 gear slushboxes. It usually has firm, almost hard shifts. Under hard power and generally above 3k rpm, the shifts are seamless and not felt at all. The two shift feels are not really predictable as to which type I’ll feel at any given shift. Dealer said I need a second flush and have that scheduled. I can’t see Cadillac owners being happy with it tho. I read that a reprogram makes things much better

I have been driving a single speed Tesla EV now for a couple years as a daily driver. It is hard to go back to a slushbox, even what we consider a fast shifting 10-speed or DCT once you have experienced the instant response of no transmission. Imagine punching it in 1st gear and never having to shift. It just pulls and pulls. I recently drove the new C8 on track at the ultimate driving experience event. I really enjoyed it, the shifting was pretty good and the way it held gears in the corners was nice, however, even that fast DCT feels so laggy compared to when I hop into the Tesla. It will be interesting to see if GM and others will introduce fun driving dynamics into their EVs moving forward. Sometimes the car feels too "digital" and some of the analog feel of ICE is still preferred. I think it will come down to how well they are programmed and the suspension and traction and stability systems they implement. Now a manual transmission is a different story and provides a whole other level of connection to the car, which is why I keep one of them around and never plan to sell it.

Interesting. I have tried very hard to feel the 4-6 switch. Is imperceptible for me… like it doesn’t work. Haven’t done any mods so I guess it’s working.

It was near perfect on my cars, too. Switching to the info page that displayed those green V4 and gray V8 badges was a surefire way to notice AFM mode switches, and V4 mode took away a chunk of the power, so they could also be felt when increasing throttle input. No delays, clunks, whine or any other weirdness, however.

i cannot feel when it goes from v8 to v4 either. nothing at all. and i'm fussy and would notice these things.
my A8 is simply awesome. love everything about it. the way it shifts the way it pops on the upshifts. what i think happens on forums is a few have some issues then post online then other folk become paranoid and think they also have the same problem. it then snowballs untill many claim they have a problem. mine is awesome couldn't be happier

No issue with my AFM either. 5th Gen you could easily tell.
Do need to take it back, has had early flushes, new torque converter, and then the good flush. (according to records, as I bought it used) My only issue is the harsh shifts from 3-4, 4-5, and maybe 5-6. (so hard to tell which gear your in in)
